Ex-Missouri House Speaker charged; allegedly punched, choked, had sex with unconscious woman

Longtime Republican politico allegedly punched, choked and had sex with woman when she blacked out after drinking glass of wine

Former Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton was charged with second-degree assault Monday stemming from a woman's claim that he hit her in the face several times and choked her.

The 42-year-old Republican was named in a complaint filed Monday in Scott County Circuit Court in southeastern Missouri. The complaint alleges that on Nov. 15, Jetton "caused serious physical injury" by hitting the woman on the head and choking her, which resulted in unconsciousness and the loss of function for part of her body.

Second-degree assault is a felony that carries a prison sentence of up to seven years.

Wait a second-

The incident occured on November 15th, but he was not arrested when the incident occured-- and now 22 days after the alleged incident on December 7th, a criminal complaint was filed?

I'm not saying he's innocent-- but if these are the facts, it hardly seems like a slam dunk case to me. Neither does the story of him beating the woman up after she "blacked out" from having "a" glass of wine.

But then again-- this guy was the house speaker of the state of Missouri so who knows
