And I wish my parents paid less attention to me. They couldn't get off my case though I appreciate it now. And we all have problems we have to deal with but things could be worse and I'm glad to be back home with family, old friends, and a cool, laid back culture.

Get back to nature? I guess you missed my stunning pictorial during my beef with Pande. I lived in LA for over 15 years before I moved back to Hawaii. I live in the country my friend. The mountains on one side the beach on the other. All within walking distance.

In response to recent questions regarding the circumstances of Joe's passing,  Joe had endured hardships in the recent years including marital difficulties, car accidents, injuries and complications from Lyme disease.  According to a longtime friend of Joe's and the family, Joe passed away on Tuesday December 8, at 11 p.m. by his own choice. He called me earlier in the day and he expressed sadness over events and what he saw as failures but was repentant before God and made his peace.  He was saddened that he heard from very few friends and felt very alone. It is very easy for those who were not part of the situation to judge his actions and so it is best to consider not only the closing days of his life but his life in its entirety which included a very distingusihed career in competititve bodybuilding. We place our faith in a loving God, in whom Joe trusted, to look upon his servant with kindness and compassion, He ultimately being the one and true judge of us all.

Yet Joe's life consisted of more than contest prep and appearances. Even before his first bodybuiding title, he was at outstanding high school athlete, a beloved son, brother, and an inspiration to many friends.

Even though at first glance it appears his life and death were tragic, he lived life as few of us do: accepting and loving to all, humble, kind, generous and with conviction. He easily made many friends through the magic of the internet, always willing to respond to the questions of others and offering advice and insights where he could.  I was re-reading his testimony on MCBB today.  Although the scriptures above his interview changes daily, I thought today's was very appropriate.  “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.” (Deuteronomy 18:15)  Listen to Joe's life and hear who he was as a man . . .

Who cares what level of income inequality there is?  It doesn't hurt you that Bill Gates is rich.  He got rich by providing other people with computer software that they voluntarily purchased and all parties involved benefited and the economy grew.  The more money rich people make, the more money exists in the economy.  You talk about it as if the economy is a zero-sum game with both a finite and a fixed amount of money circulating.  Only the former is true, but the amount finite wealth that exists grows based on economic activity.  Thus the more money the rich have, the more money actually exists in the economy and their money makes quality of life better for everyone.  That is why the USA is the most powerful country in the world.

Then why don't you be one of those 5% and start your own business (see how easy it is)

For 8 hours of mere labor, a guy who has no mental capacity of figuring things out on his own and who would die if left alone in a solitary situation, is able to live in a comfortable house and have access to products and services that are beyond his capacity to conceive or even understand. These products and services were discovered / invented by people with a much higher capability than his and thanks to civilization and a free market, the man at the bottom of the intellectual pyramid can have access to things by merely doing plain physical work that is within his means to do.

There is nothing cool or human about being a savage in a jungle, living hand to mouth while being subject to every kind of harsh condition that nature will impose upon you. That is nothing more than human beings trying to live like an animal or maybe just a level above, which is no way for someone to exist.

yes...Joe shot himself in the head in front of his mother.........first of all taking your own life is the easy way out...but then doing in front of your mother is very selfish he actually survived the shooting for a little while then died later at the hospital....those are the facts so everyone can stop speculating....

I wonder if that is true.  No one has countered it and I imagine that gunshot would be about the quickest and most painless form of suicide [except in a partially botched attempt as explained in that post].  However, that member only has one post to his user name so I will await confirmation on it.

People are so misinformed and uneducated on basic economics. Guys like him always talk about employers exploiting employees when both freely entered the transaction and agreed to the terms. Where's the exploitation? And why isn't it exploitation when an employee, say Tom Cruise, who can demand millions of dollars just to work 3-4 months on a film. Or the vast sums of money a professional athlete can squeeze out their employers.

Just the fact that a deal is made means that both parties value more what they are getting than what they are giving, whether it's a used car, a vial of testosterone or your time and labor. Of course you always want more and give less but so does the other guy. So you make a deal.

This El Mariachi can romanticize the life of a savage as much as he wants but he will never move to the jungle. The luxuries he enjoys now, even though he may resent the price, still is a better deal than living in the jungle. And the proof is in the pudding -- he's still with us. This is not a perfect world and life is all about trade offs. You ain't getting everything you want without a price being paid and our wanabe jungle boy friend resents that. But that's when you have to grow up and join the real world.

If not, the Amazon rain forest awaits.
