For 8 hours of mere labor, a guy who has no mental capacity of figuring things out on his own and who would die if left alone in a solitary situation, is able to live in a comfortable house and have access to products and services that are beyond his capacity to conceive or even understand. These products and services were discovered / invented by people with a much higher capability than his and thanks to civilization and a free market, the man at the bottom of the intellectual pyramid can have access to things by merely doing plain physical work that is within his means to do.

excellent post...says it all.

There is nothing cool or human about being a savage in a jungle, living hand to mouth while being subject to every kind of harsh condition that nature will impose upon you. That is nothing more than human beings trying to live like an animal or maybe just a level above, which is no way for someone to exist.

No, it's because you are self-indulgent, shallow and self-absorbed. It's called showing respect. I know you belong to that generation that feels it is being "true to yourself" by always expressing how you really feel. Always putting everything out there for the world to see. That's selfish and narcissistic which defines your generation. My parents didn't give a flying crap whether I really "felt" thankful when someone gave me a present. What they cared about was that I show thanks and gratitude or there was a belt waiting for me to draw up some welts on the back of my leg. They didn't care if I felt tired and didn't want to get out of bed or if I was in a bad mood. I had to suck it up and drag my ass out of bed and put on a smile and ACT with courtesy  and respect, maybe even show a bit of class. It's part being respectful, considerate and a decent person and not always just being concerned with how you feel and what you think and letting the world know whether or not it's appropriate.

as it should be.

99% of people posting "rip" in these types of thread are just bullshitting, trying to fit it but really not giving a shit.

As I said, I shouldnt have posted the steroid thing, sad for him, sad for his family, but 100 "rip" threads is annyoing, and on gb you can speak your mind and I do.

and Im not tryingto disrespect Joe, im just pointing out what I feel is wrong about these type of threads.

Should I have stayed out?  yes. But I like being provocative with the argument Not against the Person if it came across like that.

dude i don't really know you but why go out of your way to disrespect a guy who was a great bodybuilder and a decent human being, if you offed yourself i would feel sorry for you and not disrespect your memory.

The comment about Joe's suicide on bb.com forum was made by someone wanting their 2 minutes of fame at Joe's expense. I commented to that useless jerk directly.

Joe committed suicide yes, and I wish that there was something that any of us that knew him could have done to stop him.  He was dealing with a lot of hard problems on top of a great deal of pain and there isn't anyone that should pass judgment on him.  He was a great man.  He was incredibly intelligent, caring, funny and the best friend anyone could have wished for.

It's a crying shame that you have to spend so much time to register on boards and dispel false rumors and to defend the good name of Joe Meeko. He was an exceptional man whose kindness, generosity, humility, class and sheer decency just shined through. Everyone who knew him or had any contact with him were impressed by the way he treated people.

What saddens me is that someone I cared for, my family cared for is being treated so shabbily.  His family has been reading these posts.  I hate that people out there look at bodybuilders and self centered muscle heads and that's what they are seeing through some of these posts.  Thank God for the rest of you that remember Joe for what he was, a high quality human being that most of us can only aspire to be.

The people who knew Joe either personally or through web correspondance have the highest respect for him. I hope his family are looking at the posts over on Ironage.us about Joe as this is a true reflection of how those who knew him feel. Hope his family can find some comfort in the possitive messages and ignore the nonsence written by kids full of bravado and ignorance.

I have and have been using them for years. Just make sure you get the right size. I got one size smaller than I measured for a tight  fit. I don't use anything else.

POWERGRIPS.. please try to ignore the negative comments.. it is amazing how low some can go.. i talked to joe a few times.. he was a great guy.. he had demons towards the end.. he had been dealt a few tough blows over the years.. i wish he could have over come them.. i used to talk to joe about getting his training footage on dvd.. he was trying to get the footage in order.. but he was excited that anyone still remembered him and cared enough to want to watch it.. very humble.. it is sad when a guy has it all.. he was a intelligent , good looking , humble guy who could have had life by the proverbial "balls".. yet he was depressed.. :-\

If they comment negatively they didn't know him.  There's no way you could have any contact with Joe and say anything negative.  He loved people as soon as he met them and treated everyone with kindness.

I wish he had gotten the footage together.  Pray for the family.  Lots of hard stuff ahead.

Of course you don't. You're a typical self-absorbed generation nothingness freeloader. I just heard yesterday that Sweden has practically life long unemployment benefits. Is that how you afford to live in an apartment and bang 15 whores? You had a job once and now sponge off others who have endure the daily grind while you loaf around. Is that why you keep avoiding the question as to how you support yourself without a job?

'swede' has consistently proven that he is, indeed, a POS.

joe was going to go the ifbb route, but after meeting joe weider changed his mind, being an old aau guy they probably would have screwed him in the contests. as stated on ironhistory in regards to aau mr americas, the first twelve who died lived to an average age of 78.3 years well above the normal life expectancy at the time. the next twelve died at an average age of 58.9 at the same time the average age expectancy for men went up.  how can this be? all this being said joe meeko was a great guy nice to his fans not arrogant at all and he had a lot to be arrogant about....when his wife tried to do him in , he dropped all charges in the aftermath speaks volumes.

You're no WingedLion.

And yes, good people do judge. We don't judge a person's soul because that is for God. But we do judge their behavior here on earth. We strive to have standards and freely state that some things are better than others. Some people are better than others. A Mother Teresa is better than an Adolf Hitler or a Stalin.

But as chimps mentioned when referring to moral relativism, your generation is loss with no moral compass and will say things like: "Who are we to judge a culture that chops people's heads off because they want to be a Christian or allow little girls to burn to death in a building than have them being exposed in public without their burka."

Only by a slight margin  ;D

"and no I dont give a flying fuck if someone dies in this "sport" especially one ive never even heard of."

I guess what shocks and saddens me the most is why would you (swede) even bother to post in this subject thread to begin with?  I believe you said originally that you were unaware of who he was?
About a year ago I was on a well known hardcore bodybuilding site and someone posted a tribute thread to a famous snowboarder that died. I don't know him and I don't snowboard so I just moved on to the next subject thread. It would never even cross my mind to jump in that thread and post the above quote that you posted. And that was about a snowboarder on a bodybuilding site!! At least the thread on Joe Meeko was posted on a bodybuilding site.

My condolences to his friends and family. I'm in my 40's and remember him well. 1984 was my first year competing and I read several articles by and about him. In one of the mags I believe he wrote about training 7 days a week and one body part per session. Ground breaking at the time and I follow it to this day with some slight variations.
