It's cheaper to work on it yourself instead of paying a BMW tech an obscene amount of money it's fun too , but parts for Bimmers are expensive
Yes ND ...the parts are expensive must less taking it to a shop...I have a garage at my house..just need knowledge on working on it...I'm American all the cars I had before were USA made this one is different...you or Parker got any good links on BMW maintenance and repair?

Man that Porsche is a write-off  :-\ would bring a small fortune to bring it back to original shape

I've driven a Porsche 968 at the time they were billed as the most power naturally aspirated 4 cly in the world , nice cars reminded me of an updated 944 which I've driven too but they were always the cheap-mans Porsche even worse was the 924  :-X
Fuck yeah, I was told the body is what is gonna cost. Because the original owner left it outside. The whale tail has weather damage and so do parts of the side (the black material on the lower part of the fenders that all 930-964 Turbos had), mechanically it's fine. I've seen the mechanics take it out from time to time. But 911's especially Turbos are money pits.

She is just driving her kids to school every day, nothing else.
She was looking for a good safe car to drive around the kids in...
256 K!

I cant say which car it is, someone might recognize her.
A heavy ordinary looking car.

I was thinking about which car I would have chosen instead.

Which car would you buy for 256k?
she was shopping around for a car in the 200-300.000USD range.

Does she know about the energy-crisis that is about to happen in a few years? The world as we know it is going to change a lot in the next few years, whether you like it or not.

Good to have Parker in this thread he is a true hardcore car fan.

Btw freespirt: Yes she is quite smart, with two university degrees.

She imported the car, paid a ton of tax.
500HP but a very boring design, not impressive looking or beautiful at all.

I am a bit surprised, this is the first time I saw someone
buy a quarter of a million car and just
use it as a school bus.

If I was her I would buy something like the Maserati GranCabrio:
A beautiful 4seater.

Ha, in my mind, I have a lot of cars, and Halle Berry and Esther Baxter are my mistresses. Actually, I have one. A Lexus, and a shitload of knowledge. I'm getting like my dad, and getting cheap. I don't see the benefit of blowing a shitload of money on a car, just to sell it for way less than what you put in it. That's how a lot Americans have gone into debt.

I remember this one guy who had a Lexus IS300, like mine, and he lived near me. Found out about him on myis.net, well he sunk over 80k into it, and sold it for 25k to a dude in Russia. Guy said he needed the
money to buy a house. Think of the money he could have saved had he left it stock. Plus 80k, not including what he paid for it, for 25k? What a waste!

ND, I like the 964's because they have a overbuilt feel to them, plus the snap oversteer aspect is quite prevalent in the older Porsches.  And I like the curvy look to them. It's been said that the 993 911 was the last of the overbuilt Porsches, built like a bankvault.

How about this one.  My friend just recently sold his for $750,000.00.  He had 12 of them at one time.  I had one of his 935 Slantnose's in Hawaii.  This one is an all steal body by Koenig with a twin turbo
No Worries 4 me

What, modding cars. Yeah I agree. But most don't have the money, they just burn themselves into debt.
People have ask me if mine was for sale, cause they want to mod it.

Cars in general.
And I agree, with "having the money" I mean the cost should only be a small percentage of what you have.

I'm sorry @brandon but I think your friend is telling fibbs. Probably just trying to see how gullible and foolish you are.
Where do you live that she had to import it herself?  The tax on it shouldn't be any more than if she bought from a dealership which had already paid the import duty and tax on it. Rolls, Bently and Maybach are the only cars which would fit this spec and they are well represented worldwide. Sorry but you have been made a little fool of.

Many car makers are not represented here, this maker have an office but they
did send the car from an EU country.
If you knew the crazy protectionism embargo's some countries put up
to protect their car industry you would be surprised.
If you met her you would see that she don't waste time on pranks to make people look
stupid ala Arnold.
She is humble and not even that interested in cars.
But I understand it is hard to get an idea of the whole thing since I only give limited info.

Yeah, but he's right. As I said, Maybach, Rolls or Bentley matches the spec. To ferry kids you will need 4 doors. Even Spyker. Unless it's a specially made Benz or Porsche Panamera or Maserati Quattroporte.  There is nothing else worht mentioning. Plus the US is at this time one of the best markets other than the middle east for such high end cars. There aren't many cars in the uber lux market to pic from, and the tops being Bugatti, Rolls, Bentley and Maybach. And since the Bugatti 4 door called the Galibier has been shown, but price hasn't been announced, think 2 mil, that rules out the Bugatti.
Bentley has just releashed the Mulsanne, which replaces the Arnage, and they have a Bentley Continental GT Coupe and Sedan. Rolls just releashed the Ghost, and there is their Puantom sedan and coupe. Ferrari has the 612 Scaglietti, which is a 4 place coupe. And Aston Martin is probably taking orders on it's Rapide, which the finished product was just shown. Those are about all the real good ones. Other than some obscure marque, which probably has low volume and poor reliability.

So what country are you in man??

I actually do international freight management for a living since I left the RAF. Russia is actually the worst for red tape and duty when exporting anything from EU.  Are you in Russia?

You know Russia is the capital for Bulletproof Range and Land Rovers, could be that, or that ugly monstrosity that has whale penis leather for seat covers.

Good post.
I like when people know what they are talking about,
sometimes it is rare on GB.

Btw Pamela Anderson among others contacted Dartz and saved the wales penises.
Dartz announced that they will no longer use penises in their car seats.
They will change to a new completely unique material
but the price is still 1.5mil for the monster.
