Avatar's Bodybuilding Extras
« on: December 20, 2009, 05:45:05 PM »
Most of the guys who did the "stunt' work in Avatar train in various LA gyms on a constant basis. Watch the rolling credits and you may see a few you know.

As of Sunday night, 20 December, it made $232 million worldwide but I've been told that it has to clear $750 million before it even begins to make a profit.

I saw it in Imax 3D and really enjoyed it a lot and let out a hell of a holler when Force Recon was mentioned and was pretty damn proud on how well Sam Worthington played the part of a US Marine even when he fell asleep on duty

But one of his lines was, "I used to be a Marine!" which was poorly written because - ONCE A MARINE - ALWAYS A MARINE!

I think James Cameron was once in the Corps and I'm darn surprised he let that line slip into the script.

Khan's part was minor, but I think it contributed to the storyline a lot.

I thought it was funny cause they didn't really talk like Marines, but then I realized that we'd be the only ones that would know what the hell they're talking about.  Imagine one of the guys walking up to someone and talking about they got some new scuttlebutt from the LCpl underground lol.
I'm goin' in...

Marines in a jungle?

Yea, try parts of Vietnam where the sun never shines through the canopy and where a 10 foot (at least) alligator/crocodile was seen getting some sun on a river bank and some huge cat dragged a Marine a few yards while he was sleeping in a mummy bag until he managed to hit him in the nose with his rifle butt. (Apparently the cat was after the opened c-rations he had tucked away.)

Thanks, Broad! But I also heard that God threw us out of Heaven for being too damn rowdy.

I use "chow", "head" and "hatch" a lot. I even referred to one guy as "portholes" the other day
