If you go on the website you will see its made up of networks ie IFBB, NPC, UKBBF, UFC, MMA, NFL, NHL etc.  So it keeps things much more organized and connected. It brings athletes together on one platform, facebook is mixed in with a lot of general people ie who are not into fitness, bbing, or some into sports.   This gives bodybuilding, sports, and fitness a platform to network, much better then say just on a message board etc.   However this is where personal trainers can join the personal trainers network, and advertise their service and connect with clients etc.  Its just one site that now you know you can go to, and you'll find specifically bodybuilding, sports, and fitness athletes, and other related sports and health services.  Its an amazing concept when you think if the site gets to 100,000 or even 1,000,000 users +.  It also offers more then what facebook offers.  Its has a Physique of the Week, blogs page, Sports Fantasy page, Sports Intrade page where you can bet or trade on bodybuilding and sports events and make money. It will have a market place, where vendors ie supplement companies, gym equipment manufacturers, sports apparel stores etc, can list their products in.  Just like a mini ebay, but it will be right on physiquebook, and these vendors will know they are attracting the type of targeted users that would actually buy their product.  We'll also have PhysiquebookTV, we'll have athlete interviews, cover sporting, bbing events, and feature members videos.  Its allows the users to be much more interactive with the site.
