The lack of commonsense to even ask that question is unbelievable!

Why does every bar have a big parking lot if drinking and driving is frowned upon?

Just kidding.  Get arrested for DWI or DUI depending on your State and it will cost a ton of money.  Paying for a lawyer and the fines are incredibly high. Contrary to popular belief it's nearly impossible to beat the test unless the cop is incompetent. In most states refusing the test is proof of guilt in DWI.  In most states it's six months with no license and that could mean you can lose your job.

Get involved in an accident even if it's not your fault where an injury or a fatality and you're are looking at serious jail time.

Don't do it.  It's not worth it.  The ticket is costly plus if you get in a freak accident and injure or kill someone your life is over.

Plus keep this in mind:
1) Do you reallly have so few friends that not one of them is a non-drinker that can be the DD?
2) Are you so poor that you can't afford a cab ride?

benchmster I hear you about cops driving drunk all the time.  I know a few of those, makes no sense.

Lot's of mid-large cities have law firms that sponsor free cab rides home on new years.  I believe you'll need to pay to get picked up in the a.m. to get your ride though.  Hopefully the cabbie remembers where you left it  ;D

Definitely not okay. I have to admit to doing so once, after an argument with my then girlfriend i drove home the mile or so to my house at about 2/3am. I've never felt so ashamed in my life. i don't know how i made it without incident.

It's a stupid thing to do.

new years eve is amateur night.  Your best bet is to be stone sober for that evening.  Road is full of drunk idiots who think it's just awesome to knock off a table of shots then drive to the next bar.  You gotta drive DEFENSIVE this thursday night.

Personally, I have a douchebag brother in law who got a DUI.  Lost his license, night in jail, a year of probation and alcohol classes (which he had to pay for each week).  Lost his job, got his car repo'ed.  He had beaten DUI stops for years, and this one, he was speeding 55 in a 35, and he could see his house from where they stopped him.  instead, car towed, his ass in jail.

We have some of the most lax laws around here, even though supposedly a new bill was signed to make them tougher.  ::)  It still treats as a mere traffic infraction most first-time OWI offenses. An initial drunken-driving offense becomes a crime only if someone younger than 16 is in the offending vehicle.   ::)  Every other state makes every OWI offense a crime.

Fun song  8)

And if try that...one gets the cuffs just for GP.
Cops Who get pulled over make the local news.
lol!! no way dude. my entire faimly is made up of police and fire. let me tell you, none of them EVER get a ticket. hell, ive gotten out of at least 3 tickets myself, just because i was driving my dads silverado which has firefighter plates on it. and one of them would have been a DUI, reckless driving, speeding, damage to a shopping cart, and driving with passengers before the intial 6 month period of having a license.

okay a few months after i got my license we had taken some E, and had been drinking and smoking weed. we drove to the store to get something, i wasnt supposed to have any passangers because theres a 6 month probationary period. well we were being retarded and had the music blasted and hanging out the windows dancing... a cop pulled me over, when i tried to pull to the side, i demolished a shopping cart that was on the side of the road that i hadnt seen.

Embarrassment Among Many Penalties For DUI Drivers

Mon Dec 28, 1:07PM PT - CBS 5 San Francisco 3:57 | 18093 views

A DUI means that you will lose your license for a while, but that and the obvious health risk for yourself and others aren't the only deterrents for potential drunk drivers. Simon Perez reports.

I have gotten a dui before about 8 years ago and it is no fun, but it did make me learn that you might think you are alright to drive when you aren't. Anybody that is drunk and drives needs to think about the other people on the road and you might just take the life of a child or whole family. Driving drunk is the ultimate selfish act. With that said happy new year everyone!! I will be drunk, but not driving :D

Man, the things me and my buds did when we were younger? I'm so thankful nothing serious ever happened, and so these days I never party when I have even remote access to the car -ie. I'll pass up a party to where I have to drive. Just not worth it.
