In Egypt its actually illegal to put up the Egyptian flag above your home without a special permit (so they say). Anyways my father put up a HUUUUGE flag (that he had custom made) above his summer home by the beach (in a small town in Egypt called Marina) because he said all the houses there look alike and he was tired of having a hard time finding his house lol.
Anyways, so one day the police come and they argue with him and tell him that he has to remove his flag, so he goes "i'm a proud egyptian, I will not remove this flag, you want to remove it then you go up on my roof and remove it yourself" of course the cop guy was so embarassed he didn't have the balls to do it, so the police left, they came back a few times and same thing happened, finally they complained to the mayor of the town and the mayor did nothing said it was a stupid law.
Finally the main egyptian newspaper published a hilarious article that called my father the Egyptian Ambassador to Marina and talked all about the significance of the flag etc etc. My dad felt he won and beat the system - he's so damn proud now because of it lol
