Mike O'Hearn Contradicts Bob Chick In The New Ironman

Great interview with Mike O'Hearn in the new copy of Ironman.  He talks about flat benches, deadlifts and squats being the absolute foundation of a workout program.  O'Hearn is a champion bodybuilder, powerlifter, martial artist,  prolific coverboy and the decimator of TONS OF OF PUSSY.  Bob Chick can't come near O'Hearn in terms of achievement and relevance.

Doesn't mean that one of them is right or wrong. Just proofs that on tons of drugs you can train however u want, you'll grow anyway lol.

everyone responds different. What worked for Mike might not work for Bob and visa versa. Obviously Bobs method was great for him and enabled him to have a long career without any injuries.

Exactly!!

And, Chick has never said that benches, squats, and deadlifts weren't valuable to lifters. After all, he's been there and done that.

What he's been saying since his "Squats Suck; Benches Blow" article from IronMan and the similar "Butchering Sacred Cows" article from FLEX is that people should only perform those exercises IF they are effective for their physiques.

Too many people bench press, even though it doesn't develop their pecs very well, because "it's what Arnold and Sergio and Haney, etc. did". It's one of the basics.


The point: If the "basics" don't work, don't be afraid to do other exercises that perhaps will.

Mike Ohearn is a nice guy and successful, but Bob Chic has done more in his life then Mike Ohearn has. Mike Ohearn won the ABA Mr Universe, there was only 6 guys in his class, and he has acted but no major roles. Bob Chic is an IFBB Pro, and Mr USA beating out 40 guys in his class and winning the overall beating 250 other guy. Then Bob won the Masters World, and has been in Major motion pictures, such as Arnold biography, and a big hit last year
Mike Ohearn resume may be impressive its not as impressive at Bob Chics.

I can say, honestly winning the Mr USA, is one of the hardest titles to win in bodybuilding. You got 250 plus guys who are very very hungry to win.  Most of the guys who enter the Mr USA are in the best shape of there life.
Just look at the Mr USA winner, Quincy Taylor Shredded, Phil Heath, Ripped,Bob Chis was shredded. Mike Ohearn is not at level Bob Chic was... Mike is more of athletic build.

thats why when pro BB and obvious druggies advise, I dont listen...in fact most of what they say contradicts many proven concepts such as energy, moment, force, recovery, intensity etc... things that have been studied empirically on controlled samples in controlled tests...

the moral?- take loads of drugs and train however you want...this is the "do what you feel" principle...coined as the "instinctive principle"...by drug cushions.
