cars
« on: December 30, 2009, 06:54:40 PM »
ok so here is the deal.  I love my mercedes but hate it at the same time.  Maintaining it sucks becuase it is $$$.  Car has been dead since Christmas and at the shop since monday.  I had 2 different Honda accords in the past and they are awesome cars.  So now I am debating on trading my car in for a new one. What cars do you all have and what are the pros and cons of them  I am debating getting another accord, or maybe a camry, maximas are nice, maybe an avalon.  I dunno!  I almost wanted to buy an american car but still very hesitant about that.  If i were to go american what should i go for?  I always held to the foreign car policy and american for trucks.

my first car was a used 1990 honda accord, wasnt much to look at but it was a good reliable car. My 2nd car was a 1999 honda prelude she was a beauty I loved that car nothing ever went wrong until my friend was driving me home from a bar one night and ran over something that somehow broke something that prevented me from putting it in reverse and it was a manual too  ???

It seems like you want to stick with a sedan, I would probably go with the accord for reliabilities sake but the Camry looks so much better imho.

What about an SUV/truck like the Ridgeline buddy has one and its a nice and is a real smooth ride.

My old baby  :'( I miss her

Many cars are a lot like anything. You get out of them, what you put into them.

I drive a BMW 540, and that thing had it's issues in the past (long story short, dealer hosed me on the information about it) but once fixed, it's been phenomenal.

Make sure you keep up on the maintenance of the car, and not beat the crap out of it, and you'll more than likely be okay with just about anything you buy. From a 78 Chrysler Cordoba, a 60 Chevy pickup, an 02 BMW or 1984 Ford Thunderbird.

i don't mind SUV's.  but not in the monster catagory.  As far as trucks, i prefer sedans, especially since I still show houses and sedans are more professional plus I have my mom that I take shopping and to dr's appointments etc.  So i need something that is easy for her to get in.  Plus trucks suck up the gas.  I take good care of the benz, change oil more frequently than they ask for, always take it in to get servied early and immedietly when something goes bad.  It's just constatnly needing something.  It just reached 90k miles too.  I got a piece of crap one i guess.  Every manufacturer makes a dud i guess.  I also hate the fact that anytime any little thing goes wrong the price automatically starts at above $300.  Hell just a basic brake job starts at $600.  That's like 3 brake jobs on a honda!

My Aunt shows houses and she has Lexus GS, gives a good impression. She keeps her work truck for...well, work.

A door truck gives a agricultural feel if one is showing houses to a potential couple, especally if they are snooty.

targa top....it's manual...i have 2 different transmissions right now, and cant decide which one i want to use...i have a tremec TKO 600(5 speed)...and a tremec t56(6 speed)...i will most likely use the t56 cause i already have the clutch and correct bellhousing for it..but this TKO 600 is WAY stronger..

2002 honda civic with almost 250,000 miles on it  ;D

my first ever automatic (i prefer manual except with DC traffic...not worth it)

great gas milage and hardly a problem ever

i'll probably never have a really nice car...cause
1) my family has always believed in buying cars in cash....gives you bargaining power and my dad nailed it into me...if u cant buy it in cash...dont..
2) i'd rather spend the $ i'd save on an expensive car travelling

<i've always had a hardon for a TT roadster but i prolly will never>

i looked at a honda accord today, man they have changed, really nice.  Then saw the crv not bad, there was a ridgeling which looked cool.  Saw a camry today and an avalon.  Bith nice but $$.  I saw a toyota venza which seemed interesting too.  they quoted me 26.5K for a 2010 honda w/ leather and nav system.

I've had Toyota since forever.  Never had a problem, but have never been "in love" with them.  Well, I did love my Cressida  :'(.  It's always been about reliability and the service dept. relationship (I used to be on the road a lot).  The only reason I never went to Lexus or Honda is the service - developing a new relationship and the location.  At this point, I don't care.

First choice would be Lexus, then Honda Accord, then Camry.  Haven't looked at Maxima in a long time -not sure  :-\  Avalon  :-\ not crazy about it.  Another car that seems like you get a lot of bang for the buck is the Altima.  Check it out.  One of my g/f had one and loved it.  It seems like it's right in line with the Accord and Camry but a lot less $$$

You might want to consider a Town car. Many realtors seem to find those quite useful.
