There's this older dude at my gym. Does not do legs. It's funny, he goes and takes over the fucking crossover, and he's on the fucker for like 45 minutes, at least. I swear, fucking prick.

nnothing wrong with crossovers one of the best ways to isolat the pecs from the triceps and partially from the shoulders.

the 110-25lbs twinks at my gym love doing partial range of motion bench presses.

Its where they unrack the weight, then lower it just enough to allow their elbows to break.

They usually do about 6-10 sets, then move straight to alternating db curls.

All of this is done while talking on their cell phone. Sometimes they'll even answer calls mid set.

Surprisingly they dont even break a sweat in their "tapout" cut off tee's.

they just want to look like brad pitt in troy with abs, pecs and biceps. They know it's easy to achieve cause "a friend" curled , did situps and benched for 6 months and got the same results as the actors you see in recent movies. They know women and girls are endoctrinated by TV to drool over these kinds of physiques.

Why blame em. Are they more or less pathetic than the fat "powerlifter" who trains for "strenght" and the highly self obsessed juice head who cant deal with their height and dick size who need to compensate with an extremistic and ultimately vain behavior?

Whatever floats your boat, at the end of the day , lifting to get fit lean and muscular is still the healthier way to think the whole" weight lifting " thing.

personally speaking, I became 24% less twinkish when I started doing strictly dumbbells and barbells for chest, and left the cables alone.

Your levels of twinkiness variation may vary.

Isolation sucks. Turns men into twinks and boys into babies.

Cable crossovers would be ok if you could hook a Volkswagen to the end of each cable

Cable crossovers are good precontest assuming that you have enough pec mass to work on....otherwise its useless.

They'd prob be good for rehab following a sternotomy as you can use light weight and still work the pecs w/o putting too much pressure on the sternum.

Sure, tell that to the twinks trying to do the whole stack on crossovers like its a power movement or something.  They use everything they can just to get into position LOL, last thing they are doing is "isolating" If you don't have a fairly big chest to start with don't waste your time doing "heavy" cable crossovers. I have inclined pressed 315 for 8 and i use no more than 50-60 lbs on this exercise.

The guys who do the stack on crossovers usually push about 135 on the incline with a solid spot and when they bench flat, first exercise of course they usually get a few assisted reps with 195lbs maybe one on their own then they throw on more weight for each successive set the spotter also getting in his rowing lat work out while spotting.

They are training for cuts.

That's correct - they are carving-in the "detail" and "striations" on their sunken 34inch chests.

Isolation sucks. Turns men into twinks and boys into babies.
isolation movements arent ideal for athletic/sport specific training... but they can be very useful for bodybuilding. for example, light weight pre exhaust before heavy compound to increase mind-muscle connection in the pecs. or after heavy work, when your triceps and shoulders are starting to kick in because your pecs are weak, you can force your pecs to do al the work by using an exercise that doesnt require much recruitment of the shoulders and tris.

Cable crossovers are good precontest assuming that you have enough pec mass to work on....otherwise its useless.
yeah i think that when a muscle gets bigger, it becomes much easyer to get a forceful contraction out of it when doing isolation movements.

yes i see what your saying. its like the kids who do pulldowns with the whole stack but are swinging like fuck and pulling with their bis back lower back momentum and probably some straps/hooks on too. i remember 'MemberX' claimed he could rep out the whole stack on pulldowns.  :D with proper isolation of the chest on the cable crossover and sufficient exaust from previous sets, i too cant go very heavy at all.

Spot on.

My favorite thing watching people do crossovers is not just how they'll use the full stack and muster up the power like it's a 1RM on the bench, but when they grab the handles and walk 4' out from the apparatus and then start the exercise. This is becoming more and more of a trend in my gym of late. I have no idea what it is. There's a middle walkway that's about 5' from the crossover stations, and sometimes you can't walk through it because there are two to three guys all leaning forward doing crossovers....weighing 120lbs no less.
