isolation movements arent ideal for athletic/sport specific training... but they can be very useful for bodybuilding. for example, light weight pre exhaust before heavy compound to increase mind-muscle connection in the pecs. or after heavy work, when your triceps and shoulders are starting to kick in because your pecs are weak, you can force your pecs to do al the work by using an exercise that doesnt require much recruitment of the shoulders and tris.
yeah i think that when a muscle gets bigger, it becomes much easyer to get a forceful contraction out of it when doing isolation movements.

When I talk about training, I rarely speak in terms of bodybuilding. Yes, If I was bodybuilding then I would probably use more machines but still focus mostly on free weight. When you train mostly with free weights you develop a thicker more powerful looking physique.

Sure, tell that to the twinks trying to do the whole stack on crossovers like its a power movement or something.  They use everything they can just to get into position LOL, last thing they are doing is "isolating" If you don't have a fairly big chest to start with don't waste your time doing "heavy" cable crossovers. I have inclined pressed 315 for 8 and i use no more than 50-60 lbs on this exercise.

The guys who do the stack on crossovers usually push about 135 on the incline with a solid spot and when they bench flat, first exercise of course they usually get a few assisted reps with 195lbs maybe one on their own then they throw on more weight for each successive set the spotter also getting in his rowing lat work out while spotting.

personally speaking, I became 24% less twinkish when I started doing strictly dumbbells and barbells for chest, and left the cables alone.

Your levels of twinkiness variation may vary.

Please tell us that was after these photos were taken ???

as some have stated, there a pointless exersize untill youve got enough mass to get a full contraction, there a stretch and squeeze exersize... arms straight, big hug, big squeeze....

nnothing wrong with crossovers one of the best ways to isolat the pecs from the triceps and partially from the shoulders.

for the most part this thread sucks.

the body doesnt know the difference between crossovers and benching.

ive seen some so called "twinks" with some fantastic pec development who never bench.

its all about the effort. if you do CC's with the mindset that its not a muscle building exercise then you wont attack it with gusto- so why bother wasting your energy?

exactly, most men and women go to the gym to get a better appearence, for sexual/estetical purposes only, so whatever works for em to develop their muscles and body shape, who gives a fuck.

Cable crossovers are good precontest assuming that you have enough pec mass to work on....otherwise its useless.

Isolation sucks. Turns men into twinks and boys into babies.

I am with you Coach

My muscle mass and strenght have greatly improved since I stopped doing "isolated movement"

Gym members begged me for years to build them a cross over machine. When I finally installed one it wasn't used that much by the big guys. The beginners loved it, though. For chest training it is almost useless. Why? Well, when you use heavy weights the free standing movement becomes unstable and is dangerous. I don't recommend this for chest training. That doesn't stop the intermediate blokes who copy what they see in magazines. Oh, I forgot, you gotta hit the muscle from different angles! How silly of me.

Add the rope to the list of waste-of-time accessories in the gym.

how come 110lb twinks are always doing cable crossovers  ???

Yeah they don't want to get "that big" just more cut. They've bulked up to 140lb and it's time to get "ripped". Bwahahah
