Locker room confrontation
« on: January 01, 2010, 01:32:25 PM »
Why can't bodybuilders have this kind of passion?

NEW YORK (AP) -- Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton drew guns on each other during a Christmas Eve locker room argument over a gambling debt, according to The New York Post.

Citing an anonymous source, the newspaper reports in Friday's edition that the standoff was sparked when Crittenton became angry at Arenas for refusing to make good on a gambling debt. That prompted Arenas to draw on Crittenton, who then also grabbed for a gun, league security sources tell the Post.

Asked by the Post about the confrontation, Arenas denied pulling a gun on Crittenton.

"This is unprecedented in the history of sports," Billy Hunter, executive director of the Player's Association, tells the Post. "I've never heard of players pulling guns on each other in a locker room."

Rumors continue to swirl that Shaquille O'Neal and Laura Govan, the fiance of Wizards star Gilbert Arenas, are embroiled in an affair. The web site Young, Black & Fabulous reported last week that Shaq and Govan had become involved, posting alleged emails between Govan and the 7'1" center. One of the emails, allegedly from Govan, said she would meet with Shaq "as long as u taste me and make me cum LOL." See all of the emails here.

This followed a post at BlitzCorner.com that detailed the tribulations of Arenas and Govan's relationship, complete with subpoenas and child custody battles. BlitzCorner also obtained photos of Govan.

Events have continued to unfold this week. TMZ reported yesterday that Shaq's wife, Shaunie O'Neal, traveled to California to seek legal separation from the Cavs center.

Also, makes you wonder how much they were betting?
Assuming these monkeys make a few million per year it has to be a pretty substantial bet to get really pissed about it.

Professional Basketball has been on a MAJOR slide ever since Jordan retired.

Stuff like this is terrible for the sport...I pretty much could care less about basketball now and I used to watch damn near every time the Mavericks played...even when they SUCKED.

All I really ever watch now is the Olympics and that is partly because I get to see the other countries teams compete as well.

What do you expect from a couple Washington DC Wizards players?  This would never happen between Brandon Roy and Steve Blake.

The NBA could forfeit both contracts, instead of arenas making $111M he will make good being a high school coach for $10K a year

I know it's hard to comprehend but Scottie Pippen, Latrell Sprewell and Antoine Walker have all made the news in the past few years concerning financial problems they were having.

It's pretty amazing how terrible some of these guys are with their money.

I don't really know much about this story and I don't really care to read too much into it because I hear about this same thing all the time but I am just saying is that it would not surprise me at this point even if a guy who was being paid like that was still having problems with money.

I think Scottie Pippen still has a multimillion dollar house for sale here in Oregon that has been on the market for years.  He hasn't played for Portland for many years.

Well 'toine walker has a gambling problem, cause he made so much he gambled so much too, the more $$ they make the more vulnerable they are, Scottie pippen took bad investment advice and bought a gulfstream or a few of them, and he was on a shitty contract in his peak years ( how else can they afford jordan) Sprewell just blew his money on items he dont really need, boats, yachts, trying to please white people, friends and family, rendering himself bankrupt.
