In LA they start you at 60,000/yr and after you've been on the force a couple of years with over time they routinely make 75-80 grand. And this is just your beat cop. After twenty years, you can retire at 50 with generous benefits. All with just a high school education.

Of course, that's one of the reasons Cali is backrupt. BTW, I'm pro cop. I've seen what happens when the law breaks down. By far most beat cops are pro private gun ownership and don't give a crap if you want to burn or do roids. It's the higher ups that are more the politically correct hypocrites and are more politicians that LE.

I forgot about that. I have buddy who has been a cop for five years in Torrance, Cali and he pulled in $115,000 that year. Not bad for a 28 year old who barely graduated high school. He plans to retire at 45 and get a second job in private security like his dad did.
