It has a massive impact on the minds of a lot of people.  Most people believe the myth of "the noble Indian medicine man" because of movies like this.  It's just anti-white slander.  If James Cameron cares so much about the environment and thinks greed is bad, perhaps it would be best if he gave all of the money he made from this movie to international aid and live in a shack.  I'm not sure if this information is up to date, but you get the point:

I always found it interesting that you push an agenda that revolves around minorities and other non-white groups taking over this and that and yet you're living on land that could be viewed as stolen. Well, I mean MattC, not you Woten.

Cameron has an awesome house, though.  :D

the debate is going nowhere, some people think cameron is a "genius" and that his "creations" are pure art and "positive" forms of "humanism"  , when others see this guy and what he does as hypocritical and deeply ironical products to make money.

Just a simple, basic question for the first ones , but, how does making these movies benefit to humanity exactly, i mean, the guy and his senarists are just creating products with stuff they know people want to see. What do these people do that make em deserve the "genius" label. At some point in the human history, "geniuses" were people who were contributing to the well being  of the whole mankind, not movies makers who surf on psycho-social trends and use cgi to reinforce the belif in these psycho-social trends.

A guy like spielberg is a cinematographical genius in the sens that he made History more real to the younger generations with documentary like movies , but ...cameron? come on.

Since when? People like Mozart, Beethoven and Shakespeare have long been viewed as geniuses and what they created was hardly essential to the well being of mankind.

I just watched the movie ignoring all the simplistic moralistic BS. Without the dialog it's beautiful movie.

James Cameron and Christopher Nolan are perhaps the two biggest IQ'd directors in Hollywood today.   Both have very specific distinctions.

They (his movies) give pleasure / entertainment / enjoyment to the people (those that enjoy his movies, which are quite a bunch of people), which makes them feel good / better.

Nothing revolutionary like Curing Cancer etc.

Well, most people would see Imperialism as primarily White and most, more probably, as British, given recent history. You seem very defensive about it being seen as 'anti-White.' Odd.
England , Spain, Portugal, (South American colonization), France(colonization of parts of Africa and the west Indies)...
The list goes on. There was an anti colonization(much of it done by European/white nations)  messages in the movie.
If you're white and took offense, oh well. The movie was written by a white guy who probably knows history and isn't ashamed to point out some of the mistakes and sins his fore fathers may have made.

Or maybe he is just making a movie, like he always does, that he knows will sell well.

He sat down in his expensive couch, thinked for a bit, thought to himself "Cool story Bro!" and wrote it down, then made a movie out of it.

Added some elements he knew people would like and voila!

Such a simple movie (nothing new or revolutionary in the story, basically Dances with Wolves in Space) but yet what a genius.

He knows what the people / masses enjoy and want.

Director James Cameron on course to break the $1bn barrier for the second time

In less than two weeks, the ground-breaking 3D film has grossed $745m (£460m) and is already expected to be the most successful movie of 2009-10, overtaking even the latest Harry Potter film. And on New Year's Eve it was given the presidential seal of approval when the Obama family ventured into a shopping mall in Hawaii to watch the movie.

Should it continue its money-making progress at its current rate, the film could become just the fifth in history to gross more than $1bn. The biggest money-spinning movie of all time is Titanic, which made $1.8bn.

Breaking the $1bn barrier would be a particularly remarkable achievement for James Cameron, Avatar's director, seeing as he also directed Titanic. He would be the first film director to gross $1bn twice.

just downloaded it, shitty movie, wont watchh it
