most overrated fighters?

try and keep it clean.  state reasons as to why

#1 - randy couture, his record is 17-10 (horrible) and he is just not a good fighter.  has alot of heart yes, but a skilled fighter, no.

#2 - brock lesnar - 4-1 record, beat a washed up and old randy couture for the title, and people think hes some kind of god who could beat fedor.   terrible striker, boring, just lays on his opponents

#3 - chuck liddel - beat a bunch of grapplers / jiu jitsu guys and people think hes a good striker.  if he had fought in pride for years during its peak, he would have been destroyed.


This just goes to show you all how powerful the american marketing / hype machine is.  They can turn average at best athletes/fighters into world renowned superstars.

Couture- is a very skilled fighter, he was just a late bloomer.  He started MMA late agewise, and started off relying only on his olympic caliber greco skills, which is where a bulk of those losses came from.  Then he started sharpening his BJJ and striking and has been running circles around guys old enough to be his children since.  Father time is finally catching up to him but he still suprisingly holds his own, his training regimen and diet are also major factors in his success at his age.  I wouldn't judge him based on his record only, he's better than his record suggests.  I believe this is his last year fighting though.

1) brock lesner - he just lays on people the whole fight and its so boring to watch

2) frank mir - just lays on his back and looks helpless against lesner he didnt even try to do anything

3) kimbo - he cant fight on the ground well and he's too old and fought nobody's on the internet

4) shogun - big deal he hit macheda with some kicks but didnt really hurt him, couldnt finish him

underrated:

1) tito ortiz - he should of one the 2nd fight with forrest too

2) chuck lidell - sure he had a slump but thats not uncommon he'll be back


3) gonzaga - this dude's fights, man, someone always gets badly hurt, devastating damage to either

How can you begin to compile a list like this without Forrest and Bisping?
Both guys hit about as hard as my grandma.
Forrest really is done. Bisping, they might feed him some over the hill Americans and hope he can beat them on British soil. But I doubt that as well.

lol at tito being underrated to the above poster....dude will serve as a gate keeper at best....and not only did he not win the forrest fight...but...he didnt throw a single punch or a takedown in the third rd which makes that a 10/8 rd for forrest....so even if tito won the first two rds (which he didnt he won one)at best it would be a draw....

Forrest= I dont think he's overrated at all. I dont think anyone ever thought he was that good. All heart and no talent- Plus he has beaten 3 big names in the sport and had the best TUF finale fight of all time.

dead on statements here....especially with forrest...he wasn't ever supposed to be good enough to get a title shot let alone win it....plus he's beat some big names....he surpassed anyones expectations of what he was capable of doing & should be comended for that....
