Pic was taken when he was 21
A US magazine has published a never-before-seen photograph of Tiger Woods in a menacing, shirtless pose, along with an article that labels him a "sex addict".
The Vanity Fair article, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Buzz Bissinger, claims Woods made a "series of profane quips" about sex and athletes during an unreleased 1997 GQ interview.
Woods, who was 21 at the time, reportedly said during the tape recorded interview that lesbians are "faster" at sex than gay men because women "are always going 69".
He also reportedly said he "can't figure out is why so many good-looking women hang around baseball and basketball".
"Is it because, you know, people always say that, like, black guys have big dicks?" he said.
During a photo shoot for the magazine, he reportedly told a lewd joke about a "black guy taking off his condom" to four women who were working with him.
"[That interview] was the only honest and open one Woods has ever given," Bissinger writes.
"After that the steel wall of insulation came down."
The photograph on the cover of the magazine, taken by Annie Leibovitz before the scandal broke out, was reportedly deemed inappropriate for publication at the time.
"Tiger is an intensely competitive athlete — and quite serious about his sport," Leibovitz told the magazine.
"I wanted to reveal that in these photos ... and to show his incredible focus and dedication."
The magazine hits newsstands amid other reports that claim Woods, now 33, is in hiding in Africa.
TMZ.com quoted unnamed sources as saying Woods had planned to go to a friend's estate in Africa "and completely disappear from public view".
"One source believes Tiger left almost immediately [after his Thanksgiving car crash]," the website reported.
