Some lifters even think you shouldn't do deadlifts regularly (read the link)...something to think about. I know it sounds crazy but the more you think about it the more it makes sense.

ummmm not that I went out of my way to look,....

but do you have the smallest penis ever?

I will be honest and say that flaccid, yes.  In the winter it basically doesn't exists.  It disappears inside my body!!

Erect, no, not small.  Not huge but my no means small I would say.  I would say it falls into the lower portion of the above average category actually.

When are you buying a Hummer?

I suggest buying a big aggressive dog first. Then when you have a reputation as a man who owns a fierce canine, then buy a the Hummer and boom you will be greatly respected.

I don't know you and have only glanced at your site.

But I do know a thing about using other's sites for your own gain.

I don't know what you are unsure about.

Your site link is obviously censored in the custom title below your name, and you circumventing it in your signature by using the masked "tiny" URL.

Clearly you are on Ron's radar, yet you are trying to fly in under it. Why?

There is a character limit for signatures which would not allow me to post the link to my site there anyway.

Yes, I have been talking about my website too much lately...I will be stopping that now which is what I addressed in this thread.  Ron's house, Ron's rules.

Do you guys believe the rumours that Ron is paid six figures a year by the "powers that be" to run this website?  ;D

I want to increase my deadlift one rep max but even when I do my 1RM, it is really only about 95% or so of what it actually could be and only after a very extensive warmup.  I really don't feel that there is a major safety risk and my back feels fantastic.

I DL once/week....I warm up with sets of 10...135x10, 225x10, , then perform 5x5....I slowly increase by 5lbs on my 5x5 each week....in other words...week one 5x5 at 315, next week 5x5 at 320, next week 5x5 at 325, etc...and keep increasing each week til I hit a plateau.....take a few weeks off and start again...

I will post my deadlift workout from yesterday but will not link to it out of respect for Ron.  ;D  Here it is:

Quote
Workout - Saturday, January 9th, 2010 - Deadlifts [back]

Deadlifts:

45X10, 135X8, 225X6, 315X3, 405X1, 425X1, 445X1 [*PR]

385X4, [385X3.6, 315X2]

Today was a great workout and I reached a new personal record for deadlift of 445 pounds! It is still lower than I would like it to be and I look forward to hitting 500 pounds sometime during 2010. I consumed an Iovate Health Extreme Energy 6-Hour Shot prior to this workout just as I did during January 2nd's deadlift workout.

I did the 385X4 and [385X3.6, 315X2] one rep at a time with about a 3-5 second pause in between each rep. I attempted to get 385 for a fourth rep performed with the weight dead from the ground after a brief pause after the previous rep but was unable to complete the lift after getting the weight around 2/3 of the way up. From there, I quickly stripped the weight down to 315 and performed a double with that weight, again, with a very brief pause between each rep. When I performed my second rep with 315 during that set [and the final rep of my workout], it felt heavier than the 445X1 felt!

Next week I will be doing a similar routine, and I am going to decide what weight to go up to for a one rep max. I'm thinking 455 but I'm not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Overall things are still going fantastically well and I look forward to increasing my one rep max next week!

My only regret is trying to get that fourth rep with 385 when it should have been clear halfway up that I wasn't going to get it.

Don't start with an empty bar.

Try this........

135X10

225x10

315x5

365x3

405x2

225x15

Don't use straps, use chalk and a belt.

Don't try 455 again until you can get 405x5.

I remember seeing a vid of you deadlifting a long time ago and your form was pretty bad, so Id say make sure your form is good it makes a huge difference. Try to think about driving your hips through and pushing your feet through the ground instead of lifting the weight up.

Im a straps guy with an over/over grip I wish I didnt have to use straps but if I didnt I wouldnt be able to lift as much as I could without them.

Id say stay away from the singles for a while and concentrate on reps up in weight a little, rack pulls are a good option and will add some strength but may throw off your form when you go back to regular deads.

good goal though and definitely achievable by the end of the year if your hitting 445 you should have it in a couple months if you stay healthy.

So that would be 405 with a distinct pause between each rep?  Maybe a two second pause?

Absolutely true.  I could have gotten hurt.  I had decent strength but really should not have risked injuries as I did.  I'm happy I haven't had one yet!

Meh, either way, touch/go is good, add at least one rep per week, then jump to 455 and look for a double.
