Wine doesn't freeze
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:50:26 PM »
So you've got some leftover wine (I know, unheard of  ::) ) or let's say you just didn't like it  :-\  Rather than throwing it away, "Martha" suggests freezing it in ice cube trays and then putting the cubes in a ziploc.  You then use the cubes in cooking.  Sounds like a good idea, right?  The only problem is that WINE DOESN'T FREEZE  >:(  so you end up with these slushy cubes that after a day in the ziploc  become a big ball of slush  ::)  Make sure the baggie is "upright" so you don't end up with red slushy drips all over the freezer  >:(

Depends on your freezer and how much alcohol is in the wine. But why freeze it, won't go bad that fast anyway.

I don't cook with wine all that often.  Could be months...
