The Shining.

Awesome movie, but just noticed, it took Jack 3.5 hours to drive from Boulder to The Overlook Hotel, noted as being near Estes Park in the book. Said to be good time to make the trip in the movie.  It's about a 40 minute drive. lol.  Yes I'm board :D

My mate's mum -who is a camerawomen- filmed one of the scenes in The Shining whilst pregnant with him.

True Story.

do you know what scenes she worked on?

Off the top of my head, one of the scenes she filmed was when a plane lands (might be in a blizzard? Haven't seen the film for years) with the bloke coming to help the family. Not very exiting, I know. Next time I see him I'll ask what other scenes she did.

I wish they had made the ending more like the book, didn't the father smash his own face in with a mallet? It's been about 15 years since I read it but thats what I kinda remember. The killing of the black guy sucked too. It is a great movie but throwing a few more of the books stuff in there would have rounded it off a little better.

Jack smashed Halloran's face with the mallet, but didn't kill him. Wendy then stabbed Jack in the back with a knife, and she, Danny and Halloran ran out of the hotel before it collapsed.

Outside of the black guy getting chopped with an axe at the end, there's nothing really scary about Kubrick's version.

The movie is just creepy and suspenseful, that's all. But still very well done and Nicholson was great like he always is.

I'd like to read the book but I only wish I had time for fiction.

creepy and suspenseful is better than scary imo

what movies did you think were scary?

Without a doubt, 'The Exorcist'. Very scary to me because there's an element of realism involved. Just a great scary movie.

Thanks. I'll have to read it again one of these days.
