Amount of Protein?
« on: January 11, 2010, 09:17:55 AM »
OK OK so everyone has heard at one time or another you should take "X" amount for "Y" amount that you weigh.

My question is along the lines of should you take a certain amount for every lb that you weigh or for every lb of lean muscle that you weigh?

I dont think it will make all that big a deal but im about 200 lbs just above 20% body fat right now :-X thanks to the holidays and my goal is to be 180 at about 10% body fat but I want to make sure I retain as much muscle as possible while still making progress.

Any tips on amount of protein and other nutrition sources?

thanks in advance

Tony

1 gram per pound of lean bodyweight.

take your total weight, subtract your fat weight, then you have the grams of complete protein you should eat everyday.

200-40lbs=160lbs. 160 grams of protein everyday.

LBM is generally the standard "y" amount used in the calculation.

the highest protein intake ive ever seen supported with science is, if i recall correctly, 2.5 grams of protein per kilogram of lean bodyweight.  which is about 1.25grams per pound of lean bodyweight. most studies looking into protein show about 2 grams per kilogram(LBM) being the highest. which would be less than 1 gram per pound (LBM).

I dunno how it can be any good  ???  My dad used to used it to clean the battery terminals on his car   ;)

Somebody emailed me the following info.
I haven’t verified it, but I’ve heard/read much of it before:

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
Two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
The highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
And it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
Toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour,
Then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
Stains from vitreous China .

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
Away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
To the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
The baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
With the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
Into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
Through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
Grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
Windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1 the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
Acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
Contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
Commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
Cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
Engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Id have to doubt some of those but Id believe a couple of them

If im not mistaken the reason coke's work at getting the gunk off of batteries is b/c of a chemical reaction too... ???

but I am going to eliminate them or at least cut down severely

Ive also heard that diet cokes can add to the waist line  :-\

diet soda is absolutely fine. its got zero calories, plus caffiene and water... so its a great drink to help shed pounds. and it tastes good. it shouldnt knock you out of ketosis, and even if it did, which it wont, that wouldnt be an issue anyways... you shouldnt loook at ketosis as the goal of a diet, but look at ketosis as the result of an effective diet.

Yes, some of those are very specific chemical reactions.
Coke will not just melt through everything it contacts like alien blood.
Don’t forget that we have naturally occurring acid in our stomachs, and that interacts with any acidic foods we ingest.

As for the above tales...

I knew someone who claimed they did the steel nail experiment.
And I’ve known a few old-timers who used it to clean battery terminals.
My mom’s friend uses it to remove tree sap from her windshield.

shiner black is good....i haven't really drank since that day. i have taken the shiner tour a few times..shiner has a "tasting room"...you can drink as much as you want for free..but as soon as you sit down, they cut you off......i stood for 2 hours before thanksgiving ;D

i ate at BJ's brewhouse in pearland town center last week, and sampled the microbrew's...they have a damn good blond, Irish red, black, wheat..everything.....i am definitely going back to that place..the food was really good too...

I personally have used #5.  I used to work on cars with my dad and that was one of his things.  I might just try it today as I have a little crud on my battery.  I'm not so sure I want all that sticky sugar everywhere tho  :-\
