I think 333386 will agree with that statement as well, no?

"it's not that they stopped being republicans - it's that the party stopped being republican."

I dont disgree, but there is a huge difference between being pissed off by the GOP and voting for and actively knee padding for a self proclaimed socialist who hates this country and its constiution.

i actively admire obama's political gamesmanship while disagreeing with 70% of his positions.

i disagree with cap/trade, healthcare, gun control, abortion, welfare state, foodstamps, soft on crime, reapportioning districts, etc.

I agree with Bush/cheney/palin/mccain that we needed TARP.  And I agreed with Obama and many repubs that we needed some stim in 2009 to keep Big 3 and banks afloat.  How they used that $ is disgusting, however, as is the secrecy.

I admire obama's ability to destroy Rove and Clinton, definitely.  that was some seriously good politicking.  hell, bush making those terrible calls about mccain in 2000 was disgusting - but was good politics in a close race.  Ethically/morally bankrupt/ Of course.  But in studying history, it's par for course :(

12-9-5

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.

Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

Bush deserves the scorn he gets and you have no argument from me.  When I first heard that I wanted to vomit.  You have no argument from me on that.

how did he convince the media people (who hadn't kneepadded for Clinton - quite the opposite) to do such a thing?

How did he construct this image?

This shit is fascinating to me.

Hell, Mccain was an admitted wifecheater, and palin's mess too - they had the moral high road in the election claiming religion over a squeaky clean family man in obama.  How did that happen?

politics is an incredible thing.  it's "live history" if that makes sense.

it's like a chessboard on the national spectrum dude.  Millions of pawns, a small set of queens, battling it out.  Hell, they have educated guys (pawns) like us spending hours convincing other pawns to give their vote (and money) the evil queen we believe in.

If obama got the media to kneepad, and hawaii to hide his birth cert, and moderates to fall for him, etc etc... then he might be one of the smartest dudes around.

Obama did not have to do anything, the Media did it on their own.

Look no one wants to admit it, but we have a ruling class, and we have done it to ourselves by not demanding term limits for congress and/or voting the fuckers out after a couple of terms. I don't believe in any politician, because I think they are all sociopaths. Show me a candidate that has the best interests of America at heart and they have my support.

Obama is not squeeky clean and never has been, he pulled alot of crooked shit in Illinois to get elected, as well as bullshit deals with resko and the rest of the Chicago political mafia. Why did Obama get a pass? because he black plain and simple, fear of being labeled a racist nothing more and nothing less.

So there's my voting record since 1980. Is it conservative or liberal?

3333's...now list your voting record.

Dole 96' - BJ was a horror and Dole was a war hero.  He was tired and old, but I thought he was a good man.

Bush 2000 - I liked him in 2000.  Gore was a horror to me and still is.  I think Gore is probably the worst of the worst to that point.

Bush 2004 - I did not like Kerry and it was a true choice between bad and worse.

McCain 2008 - Supreme Court picks, balance out the radical congress, Palin.

Bush in 2004 did not deserve my vote. (Kerry was worthless)

McCain's selection of dipshit Palin showed that "Country First" was nothing but a slogan.

So do you believe my voting record is conservative or liberal?

"Hope & Change" Mons!

Its all slogans.

As far as Kerry - his elitist posture pissed me off to no end.

Correct, it's very conservative.

Why would I lie about voting for Reagan in 1980? or Bush I or Bush 2? or ANYTHING else for that matter?

We still never resolved that other little issue remember?

former repubs are often the most venemous and passionate non-repub voters.

it's not that they stopped being republicans - it's that the party stopped being republican.

Bush was an amnesty loving, nation-building, elective-war waging, fearmingering lib in repub's clothing fellahs.

All these 'new' repubs that were sucking bubba in 92 and 96 make me sick, lecturing on what it means to be a repub.

While that is true, dems are the same. The democratic party used to be a party of JFK ,now its the party of Mao.
