When did they outlaw knees to the head on the ground in MMA?

I remember Mark Kerr, he was brutal with his knees to the head, just curious to whether that was his demise or that he was a shit MMA fighter?6'3 263 lbs

They are not outlawed, just against the rules in some organizations (like in the current UFC for example).

There are more Orgs than UFC you know.

If you prefer knees to the head in north-south, or kicking someone on the ground (which is my favorite) there are other Orgs that allow it.

Early UFC; Pride, NHB Vale Tudo etc
