hahaha lolol

that pf is a lot nicer than the one that i go to.
surprised the mirror didn't break.
1st time i heard what the "lunk alarm" lol sounds like.    ::)
wonderin what the issue was for the girl to go over in the first place, maybe he was gruntin'.
look, its that kinda gym so you gotta expect it.  start gettin like that and it only proves their point.

the one I go to is ok,,, just because you see the same people everyday for a couple years and its just like any other gym except,,, well its planet fitness lol  ::)

the only good machines are the ones in the circuit and you can't use em' unless your going through it so,,, I sneak in once and a while for a few quick sets others,,, i stick to the db's, pulldowns, pullup & dips, sometimes smithmachine, leg press ext & curls and thats it.
i try to be cool because cool with the people that work there, so they let me get away with a lot but I don't like to put them in that position because some members would b!tch and pretty cool with most members too so.
point is why push it, only use it when i have to, otherwise be cool.

that meltdown was supercool to watch but that guy coulda handled it better, gives everyone else a bad rap.  bet that guy wouldn't have done that if the pf worker was a jacked up dude instead of a 100lb girl.

Another example of teaching the public that you don't have to train hard to make progress and turning them into drones.

Oh, no doubt. I've trained with less. It's just funny to me, that's all....

laugh to myself everytime i walk in the joint.

funny thing about it, just like any other gym you still get people leaving plates on the smith,,, like twinks leavin dimes on each side and walkin away.
the other day one guy was on the peck deck doin one arm and with a phone to his ear with the other,,, then switch... kept right on talkin...
bunch o twinks tonight loaded up a smith with 3 plates a side and hit those deep dish eigth of an inch reps... of course you know when it comes to benchin' they go for the full quarter of an inch reps.

not unlike any other gym, just more extremes and more frequent. lol
all the stuff we getbiggers mock on a daily can be seen constantly at any planet fitness... yes its what gyms are comming to.  ::)

the week after new years the one i'm at signed up about 1,000 new members, in a week.  granted those people will go 3 times a  week for a month for new years reso then stop until may-june to get ready for the summer, lol.  the key is, they wont cancel the membership because it's so cheap, 10 or 20 mnth,,, pf knows what its doin.  ::)

feel good in the fact that we geetbiggers are the exact image they are trying oh so desperately to avoid.  :P
hence the big grin on my face when i walk in.

Detailed description...

 QUESTION: When is a ski-hat not a ski-hat?

ANSWER: When it’s on the head of a black man, then it becomes a do-rag.

I terminated my almost 20 year membership and friendship (I thought) with David DiSabato, the owner of the Planet Fitness Gym in Columbus, Ohio, after he told me that the combination of my muscular body (I’m 5 ft. 10 in. and weigh 180 lbs) and my do-rag (it wasn’t a do-rag, it was a ski-hat) made his new target audience (overweight middle-aged white women) feel uncomfortable.

Even though I had been a member without anyone complaining about me for almost 20 years, I was now declared too muscular and too ethnic looking (i.e. scary looking) to be part of Planet Fitness’ new little country club.

Planet Fitness’ dress code policy is racially and religiously biased (see hyperlink item PF845 below)

http://www.northeastcolor.com/pf/pfpkg.html

It targets African-American men (do-rags), Latinos (bandanas), and Jewish and Muslim men (skull caps). I’m black, so even though I wasn’t wearing a do-rag, by default my ski-hat was declared too ethnic looking and I was accosted by four Planet Fitness employees and the owner of the club, David DiSabato.

Planet Fitness stereotypes men (Lunk Alarm = Dumb Jock Alarm) and forces out muscular men of all colors (yes even white men) who during their intense workouts might make some noise. (hyperlink Item PF300)

http://www.northeastcolor.com/pf/pfpkg.html

Notice how there is no female equivalent of the Lunk Alarm. The insulting cartoon character in Planet Fitness advertisements feature a man, not a man and a woman.

Every 15-20 minutes, via the gym’s sound system, Planet Fitness members are forced to listen to the following man-bashing public service announcement:

“REMEMBER AT PLANET FITNESS, THERE’S NO LUNKS, NO BODYBUILDERS, NO CRITICS”

All of the heavy equipment men are most likely to use has been removed, further discriminating against men of all colors who take their workouts seriously.

To recap, here is Planet Fitness’ four way attack against men of all colors:

1. Behavior: grunting or dropping weights whether on purpose or by accident results in public humiliation via the Lunk Alarm: An ear piercing siren with a flashing blue light.
2. Appearance: Racially and religiously biased dress code that targets African-American, Latino, Jewish, and Muslim men.
3. Atmosphere: Insulting cartoon character signs. Man-bashing public service announcement.
4. Facility: Removal of all the equipment in-shape men are most likely to use.

Good luck to the remaining men at Planet Fitness. Let’s hope you don’t realize that you’ve been neutered by the Planet Fitness money making machine that caters to insecure women and encourages its members to remain out of shape and overweight with its Bagel Mornings, Pizza Evenings, and all the Tootsie Rolls you can eat. Planet Fitness men just be aware that the minute you lose the fat and gain muscle, you’ll be labeled a Lunk and your days with Planet Fitness will be numbered. And men of color, don’t you dare walk into Planet Fitness with any sort of head covering. You’ll be labeled as being too ethnic looking. You’ll be treated like a criminal and hastily escorted to the nearest exit.

I’ve moved on. I found a better gym; it’s more expensive than Planet Fitness, but it’s a gym that judges me only on the content of my character, not on my gender, the color of my skin, or the ethnicity of my clothing. Amazingly enough, even though I was declared too scary looking to workout with overweight middle-aged white women at Planet Fitness, in my new gym I workout with, you guessed it, overweight middle-aged white women! However, unlike the Planet Fitness women, these women aren’t prejudice toward my black muscular ethnic appearance.

Now that I’ve liberated myself from the hostile Planet Hypocrite environment I’m very happy. However, the bitter after taste of being judged in the “Judgment Free Zone” will stay with me for the rest of my life. (see Items PF275 and PF200)

QFT on everything Tre,,,
the one i go to though,,, like 75% of the members are "ethnic" thats just the area the complex/store is in...
years ago when the pf lunk threads were posted on getbig,,, i never heard of nor seen a pf, then finally one opened near me... i was wondering back then how they were gonna combat the people they deam "not wanted there"  well,,, they cant, not were we are. the only thing they do there is they do enforce the no "doorag" policy, skull cap what ev,,, no matter what color you are,,, seen girls get away with it though, lol
sure they have the middle aged outta shape men & women, twinks and everything else but alotta blue collar people that get outta work late and like the 24 hr mon-thurs hours so...
just the area i'm in :) some hardcore folks go there,,, suprisingly,,, peeps bringing dip belts with the chains hangin plates on dips, lol,  exactly what the franchise doesn't want.  pack a chaps doin muscle-ups, upside down pull-ups. its great.

An article I wrote about 6-7 years ago:

Hardcore Gyms,A Thing Of The Past

By: Tim Wescott

I'm about to say quite a bit about the sad state of affairs in most gyms today, and I know I will offend some people, but... too bad! It makes me sad to see the gyms of today, and their participants, wandering around aimlessly from fancy machine, to fancy machine, in quest of something most of them don't know how to find.

I'm talking about learning how to achieve results, with their meager half-hearted efforts. Most of the people in gyms today don't have a clue why they are there, or what they are trying to accomplish. Sure, Mary might want to lose some weight, but she usually doesn't have a clue as to how to go about it. I know this may sound harsh to some, but back in the day, newbies in the gym learned a lot from bodybuilders and more experienced lifters.

Bodybuilders and powerlifters are actually frowned upon these days in most gyms. It's a shame because these people should be used as inspiration, and watching them train could benefit a lot of people.

As far as giving them a clue as to what intensity level is required to actually get results from their training... Gyms back in the seventies and eighties, were really gyms, and not fluffy, frilly, "Fitness Centers," trying to pass themselves off as gyms. People worked together in pursuit of their goals, and learned from each other.

Today's Gyms

Today's gyms, and I use the term loosely, are too caught up in making money, and could care less about their clients progress, or lack of progress, as is usually the case. There's too many people that don't have clear-cut goals, and know nothing about training, even though there are "personal trainers" at most gyms.

 Personal Trainers:

The sad part is a lot of the personal trainers I've seen know very little themselves, and most look like they can't get out of their own way. If you are going to train people, at least look like you train a little yourself. I call these half-@ssed personal trainers, "professional rep counters," as that's about all they are doing that is correct, in their approach to training clients.

 Fad Fitness Items:

Another thing I find ridiculous today is fad fitness items. Swiss Balls, rubber tubing, medicine balls, and TV sets, are a bunch of junk, that should be kept out of a serious gym. Do you really believe that doing crunches on a big blue ball, is any better than doing them on a floor, or a bench?

On A Ball Or On The Floor:
Does It Really Make A Difference?

Stabilizers come into play more with the Swiss Balls some would say. Stabilizers also come into play when squatting like an animal for 20 reps, with a heavy weight, but that's too much like work. I guess I'm just "old fashioned," but give me a gym full of sweaty, hard working animals, who are hungry to grow, and make progress, any day.

Squatting Will Work Your Stabilizers Just As Well As Any Ball Crunch.

 Quiet Please:

Today if you lift anything remotely heavy, or make the slightest grunt while squeezing out a hard rep, you get asked to tone down the noise. Don't even think of chalking your hands, you might get some on the spotless floor. What do these people think a vacuum cleaner was invented for?

Hardcore Gyms

I've trained at 4 hardcore gyms, at different times, for years, places where you made progress, and other people in the gym were genuinely concerned about you making that progress. It was no-holds barred, all for the betterment of the guys working out. If you didn't train your @ss off, you were considered a wimp.

Sadly, it is getting increasingly harder to find a good ol' sweatshop type of gym, where results are demanded. Today I see people come to the gym religiously, every day, only to talk, roam around, use the same weight forever, usually one plate on some contraption, for months at a time, gab on their cell phones, or some other practice that has nothing to do with staying focused on their training. These same people wonder why they do not make progress.

Ask a typical trainee in today's gym why he or she does a particular exercise, and what part of the body that exercise is for, and they look at you like you asked them for their wallet.

I think if you're going to workout, then you should at least have a basic understanding of the exercises, and body parts they work. Maybe even sweating a little once in a while would be productive. I really miss the "old school" gyms, and the animals that inhabited them. You can take this rant with "tongue in cheek," but I won't.

Train Hard!

Disclaimer

I obviously (I hope), meant this article to be taken with a healthy dose of sarcasm, but I hope I opened people's eyes to the fact that they should ask questions at the gym (not while someone is training), and do a little research, before beginning their program. Learn about what you are doing, and you'll do it better.

STAY PUMPED!

I was about to go nuts on a dude in the gym yesterday, usually Im pretty focused on my own workout so nothing really botheres me, But he was standing to my left, not to far away, deadlifting 130 pound, and after a few reps every single set he SLAMS it to the ground, not just drops it etc, but SLAMS IT.

EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME.

Not only did he slam that weight, BUT he did supersets right after the HUGE DL with a 40pound mini bar which he ALSO SLAMMED.

and the sound is loud, so he went to get water and I decide if he does it again, Im gonna have to let him know wtf he is doing lol.

and he comes back and takes off the weights,

I dont like to complain on other people bodys either but he lookes like a sack of 110 pound shit.

fucking hell.

Ofc no one believes me because I always and always lie.

I concur. Gyms are now full of fancy machines that serve very litlle purpose, less and less free weights, most people load but do not unload, they'll stand and exercise in front of the weight racks, shadow box, occasionally throw in a failed roundhouse kick, you'll get to overhear some BS advice from so called PTs, and the list goes on and on. A few grunts would be music to my ears nowadays.
