Lukewarm training at it's best. Flex looks great, but I'd rather look like Tom Prince, who looks huge beyond belief.

Guys like Dorian and Ronnie never used pre-contest as an excuse to train like a wimp. No coincidence that they accomplished what they did.

Flex himself has said he only did it for the fame and money. And it shows in the clip.

Thank you. Besides if anyone could use their depleted state as an excuse it would be D and Ron. Flex was always a little off and obviously cheated on his diet so he couldnt have been too depleted

So screaming and cheating is to train hard? I think that's a big misunderstanding from people around.

Deadlifting 800 lb and shoulder pressing 160 lb dumbells IS training hard, regardless of whether the guy (or his training partner) is screaming or not.

Look at Flex not even breaking a sweat or looking psyched up. He acts like he's playing pool, lol

When Flex once said he was going to retire, Flex (mag) asked all the other pros their oppinion. Kevin Levrone said Flex was just a lazy person looking for an excuse not to train or compete, I though Kev was just cocky but this vid shows otherwise

Training smart trumps training hard, listen to Bob Chick.

Not everyone can train like Dorian or Ronnie and getting optimal results from it. It's all individually.

Getbig is getting better and better, there are really guys who wanna give that guy training advices. :D

narcisstic arrogant... bad attitude... ego way too big
yes he looked great .... but he overestimated... cocky guy

Flex has always stated that he wouldn't go to the gym after he retired. He said this way before he got his pro card. There are vids on YouTube where he was in his younger 20s and he has stated this. The one thing that was consistent with Flex. I think he loved martial arts better than bbing, but bbing was a way he could pay the bills. And he was kinda pushed in that direction by people who said he had the genetics. I think he like bbing as a hobby, not as a profession. What's odd, is that after he retired, he was the one, not Shawn or Kevin, that kept up with the weights. Why?? Well, it had become part of Flex's persona, who he is, without bbing Flex is basically nothing. Hate to say it.

I never said everyone can train like Dorian or Ronnie. They can't and they don't. I'm saying training hard gives you a degree of muscularity that you can't have if you train like Flex in that clip.

Everyone trains their own way. But people who lift harder will always get more out of lifting than people who train with very little intensity. The latter may have better genetics and may beat the former at times, but that doesn't change the fact.

And just because Flex looked the way he did, don't assume he knows everything there is to know and is omniscient / infallible when it comes to knowledge about things like anatomy and nutrition. Makes you look naive ;)

I don't agree, he look pretty exhausted. Those pull-down have a very nice strict form. U can really see how his lats are working from full stretch to full contraction. That's a rare sight when u see people do heavy back excercises, their movement are almost zero.

Haha ;D I stopped watching after 3 mins cause he was training like a wimp. Still, even Charles Glass has said Flex and Paul were a couple of the laziest guys he's trained.

In all fairness, Flex trained hard till the accident he had in 94. And by no means am I knocking on his physique.

I think the accident shook him, mentally and physically to the point where he had to overcompensate (coming in heavy, later synhol use). It was said that Flex before his accident did throw around heavier weight. But it's odd that his Mass Construction vid in 96-97, he lifted heavier weight (it was filmed after the Mr. O), than his 93 vid Hardbody (filmed one week prior to the Mr. O). Yet he looked better in 93.

Also, due to his neck injury he was told he couldn't do certain exercises, like squats (bar near his neck), so he did hack squats instead.

No doubt. Another thing is that Flex used to train with Rico and Chris Cormier, who both said they all lifted harder when they trained together.

And Flex is the only guy I know on whom Synthol looked good, lol. But it makes his arms look stupid now.
