once before bodybuilding was more respected
« on: January 24, 2010, 01:01:41 PM »
I think its nonsence to ask about art in the modern bodybuilding. So, the mass monster with extreme cuts should dominate all the tiny "artistic" bodybuilder.
because, the artistic bodybuilding has been over long time ago 70s and 80s
Simply, the modern bodybuilders(even 202 class) are too big for art.

How would we define "artistic"?

We could call it aesthetics instead, which is very subjective too. Personally I would say Paris' physique was more aesthetically pleasing. What do you think?

You are right. Maybe i am refering about the physique which is near from greek or roman sculpture.

Also,I think Paris is. But think about it, why do you feel it? It has only something to do with the mass doesnt it?

I think Wheeler's body has something feminine about it. Perhaps that's why. Also his symmetry is off from my subjective idea of the ideal masculine form. For example, fairly narrow shoulders, small chest.

Yes. Of course we could debate what masculine is, if it's changed through history, etc. But that's my opinion. Wheeler is more delicate, lacking the masculine characteristic of a more square frame. Wheeler "flows" nicely with the round muscle bellies but it's not as aesthetic from my point of view.

Post some classic Greek male forms, such as images of the gods and we can compare a bit.

Who is closer to the form of Hercules, Wheeler or Paris? I say Paris.

Bodybuilding it's not about how much you weight Kyomu  .
I'm taller than you I weight less than you and  I still would beat  you in a bodybuilding show.
