Rising to meet my fate I announced on GetBig that I would now be leaving for the gym. I arrived at the door, well, the entrance, to the exercise facility as scheduled. I took it as a bad omen that the place was empty. Was Slacker setting me up?

It's back and bicep day so I started out with one arm dumbbell rows. There's a 24hr Fitness about 6 miles away in town whose dumbbells go up to 125 lbs. Ours go up to 150 lbs. Of course I'm no where close to rowing either weight but knowing there's some 150 pounders waiting for me with my name on it gives me encouragement.

As a precaution I asked a couple of my buds that live in the half-way house (we low-lives like/have to stick together) adjacent to the fitness facility to be on the lookout for a gang of 6'3" 265 lb 10% bf Canadians walking aboot. Lakela, on the left and always concerned for my well being, suggested I pop a few "Jacked" tablets. I decline, preferring to go into battle "natural." BTW, that's Big Bobs over on the far right that made a quick getaway when he saw my camera. He didn't want to be photographed as he claims he is holding some water. There was definitely some Nasser-like water retention going on.

I couldn't help but casually mention what Slacker had to say about our gym, B.J. Penn, the fighting abilities of islanders, and what he thinks us "natives" should stick to.

After my workout I looked over at the Koolau mountains and took a deep breath. I still felt the impending sense of doom of meeting up with Slacker's Hit Men. I muttered the pre-battle Klingon mantra to give me courage: "Today is a good day to die."

When I turned around I couldn't help but smile warmly at that piece of engineering genius that I constructed to solve an ongoing problem that has been plaguing our Health and Fitness facility. Often big gusts of winds coming from the Koolau range would blow our tarp..., err, I mean, our roof off the gym. Going through my old engineering text books from my days at UCLA I brilliantly solved the problem by tying a rope to a 45lb plate that you see laying on the middle of the floor and precisely fastening the other end to the roof. Thus far it has resisted even the most robust blasts that the Koolaus has had to offer.

With still no sign of Slacker's thugs I headed for the recreational facility which features a basketball court  -- all included with the membership.

Growing weary I made my way to the lounge room to wait some more.

Well, it appears Slacker has given me a temporary reprieve. Perhaps he didn't have enough time to manage the logistics of making a clean kill on such short notice. To make things more convenient for him let it be known that I train every Mon, Weds, Fri. in the morning. This will give him the entire weekend to plan things perfectly. If he needs me to repost my location along with photos I will be happy to oblige.
