my gay friends do not agree. you're a nice guy, but a dumbass about this topic in particular. I guess participating/watching in greco roman wresting, track and field and swimming are all closet fag magnets right? i mean, they wear tight, revealing or little uniforms
I don’t pay much attention to greco roman wresting, track and field, or swimming, but I think I am safe in observing that few of those athletes are peddling themselves to schmoes or escorting when they are not engaged in their respective sports (perhaps you know otherwise). Private posing and escorting is the norm in bodybuilding and it has been since the days of Sandow, Arnold, and up through today.
Even figgs has to wonder "How do you defend your heterosexuality when... Your favorite sport involves heavily muscled, oiled, tanned and shaved men posing almost completely naked on stage in front of a live audience?"
http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=132861.0Do I have to go over this again? BB is gay because:
• it is predicated entirely on looks--not physical prowess.
• the public face of the sport is scantily clad men posing and flexing for an audience of cheering men.
• competitors often have erections on stage.
• over the years, posing trunks have become smaller and smaller. Glutes used to be covered up. Now, we have competitors hiking up their trunks and showing off their shredded bums.
• more than once, cocks and balls have popped out of their small trunks and amidst all the cheering (ostensibly over muscle) everyone pretends not to notice.
• the “dark” side of the sport consists of competitors making lusty videos for gay audiences, escorting and/or “private posing” for male fans and judges. Every competitor knows someone who does this but no one ever talks about it because in their mutual fear of discovery lies mutual safety.
• I have seen guys (surreptitiously) masturbating in the audience during the posedown.
• Who do you think buys all those videos from http://www.repetrope.com/men/ http://musclegallery.com/
http://usamuscle.com/ http://www.muscleweb.com/
http://vistavideo.com/ and all the rest? Women? Um, no.
• If you look closely enough at his website, almost every bodybuilder you can name offers some version of private posing, very “personal” training, web cam sessions, or selling used articles of his clothing. Again, who do you think buys this stuff? Hint: it's not women.
• the ultimate winner in bodybuilding walks away with the Sandow statuette--the statue of a gay man. Eugene Sandow (long considered to have the perfect proportions of classical Greek and Roman sculpture) dumped his wife and toured the country posing and flexing with his piano playing boyfriend in tow. The two eventually set up house together in NYC. http://www.sandowmuseum.com/sandowlife.html
• The godfathers of body building: Eugene Sandow, Joe Gold, Joe Weider. Now, what do they all have in common?
• the most popular body building gym franchise is Gold's Gym, founded by Joe Gold (he also founded World Gym). Yep, Joe Gold was gay.
Even Gordiano connected the dots...
Where to start?
Go to a show, (overwhelming) majority of the audience is male.
The men flex for the crowd of men.
They pump up, for the crowd of men.
They oil up, for a crowd of men.
They wear the tiniest trunks available.
They hike up these tiny trunks, to show off their asses.
You have men going ape shit, when the above happens.
For some reason, the bigger the man, the bigger the cheer.
You ALWAYS have men there who DO NOT EVEN WORK OUT! (wtf do you think they are there for?)
You have guys humping the stage floor, as part of their routines.
You have men doing the splits.
There's pictures of men in tiny daisy dukes, as they lift heavy weights (clearly to satisfy someone's fetish).
Schmoes run the industry (Blekman, Weeda's).

Dude, I could be here all night typing this shit up. Then there's the stuff that BayGM mentions.......
I was once like you. Somethings just seemed odd, but I didn't really think about it. Slowly but surely, my eyes were opened.....
Don't get me wrong, I love bbing (training, lifestyle, discipline). But the comp. side of it, the pageantry (might as well call it what it is) is what it is.
Clearly geared towards gay men.
