We shouldn't be surprised that this contest/scam is in France, considering the number of great rock bands that have come out of that country like....Umm. Well, I'm sure there has to be some. I just can't think of any.

But, I'll play along. Let's say you do get a record deal from this. What does it mean in this environment? A record label's main value was in its ability to press a large number of units and distribute them. That business model is completely dead. Why? Everyone downloads their music. There's nothing to press or distribute!

Seriously, this is embarrassing. If you really think this band is special, plan a tour, go out on the road and build a following. That's how a successful band makes a living.

That has to be one of the biggest crocks I've seen come down the pike in a while. It's so much easier then anyone thinks.. the best tip I can tell you is if you learn what the notes are on the frets you will see they repeat in patterns, also in something called octaves (height of pitch) so you will get the same note (G) 3rd fret low E string as you will on 5th fret D string and so on..once you know that form chords all over the fretboard.

Same with chords, everything repeats in patterns, it's all a numbers game.

Plus with the internet now there are so many tutorials, lessons, chords, scales, etc. resources online to learn from for free, there are online metronome's (to play in time) even backing tracks you can jam with or solo over.

Hey Cap.....I don't get it. I have an acoustic that I occasionally try to play....and for the life of me I can't figure out how it is that I can crush the life out of someone, but I can't hold those little fucking strings down and hit a proper chord

Ahhh... I remember getting over that hump.. there's a few tricks.. it takes a lot less to get over it then you think, you have to grip the string hard enough to make a clean sound when you pluck it with your right hand, you don't need to hold it any harder, pick a really simple song you like (ideally ACDC or something) and just practice those 3 chords over and over, if you can do it for a couple of days you will get over the hump.

Here's an easy one to start off on

AC/DC Back in Black

E DDD AAA

so:

then just pull off 3rd fret E string, 3rd fret B string 2nd fret G string
(pull off from the note to open)
high E is the bottom (thinnest) string, B is the next one up, G is the third one up.
