The victory pose
« on: February 08, 2010, 10:47:05 AM »
The only two bodybuilders I've seen hit this pose are Sergio Oliva and Lee Priest.
Who do you think did it better?

I'm probably in the minority here but I actually prefer Lee Priest's version - shorter guys with very full round muscle bellies can get away with doing it better than taller guys - personally I think Sergio was lucky he could pull it off as well as he could.

Sergio because his taper is sick. Lee has like the worlds longest torso, and that's saying something because he's short. Plus, because his arms are short, the pose doesn't display them in the best light.

Not sure what your crazy is over Lee Priest - recently you've said in different threads that he has one of the best MM poses ever, and one of the best front double biceps and ab-thigh shots lol, and now you're discussing his victory pose.  He had thick limbs but was very short and disproportional, relatively small chest, and not wide enough to compare with the bigger guys.  Also, I think he only got 6th place one year as his highest Mr. O placing, ever?

i believe that pablo takes lee as his role model in bb because they are both nearly the same hight.. i have a friend who is the same hight and he too likes priest.. this is normal in bb i mean to inspire yourself by some one who is the same hight like you.. a lot of tall guys too take lou as their role model.. this is because one cant change his hight but can change his physique!!..

Although I am a short guy and think Lee's victory pose is outstanding, Serge's blows Lee's out of the water because of his ridiculous proportions...

I just like Lee Priest's physique over most of the other taller guys. I'm also short (5'5) and like Lee's huge, thick arms and legs.

I didn't say he had the best MM or FDB pose ever, I just said I prefer his poses better because I like his physique better. As far as the ab/thigh pose, I think its better than Nasser's, that's it.

Many of the disadvantages you mentioned are true and have hurt Lee in contests, but again I prefer his physique over someone like Ronnie, Nasser or Dorian that had the complete package to win.

As far as his placings in the Olympia, he placed 6th in 1997, 2000 and 2002. That was his highest.

You're absolutely right. My height is one of the reasons I looked up to Lee ever since I started lifting.

Sergio proportions do give him an advantage over Lee. I think Lee's arms and legs look bigger and thicker though, maybe its the limb length?

That's a funny picture of Ronnie, it shows that some should not even attempt to hit this pose.
