OMG!!! What the hell has Obama done?!!!
« on: February 08, 2010, 05:56:21 PM »
If you listen to the media all you hear is negativity . Here's what Obama has done. This is refreshing.  In the listings below, numbered listings in blue indicate items I was not aware of that impressed me.  The numbered items in red font are really impressive because I doubt any other president has ever done this.

The author is Professor Robert Watson of Lynn University who was once a writer for the New York Times.

Professor Watson writes :

Hi friends,

I am always being asked to grade Obama's presidency. In place of offering him a grade, I put together a list of his accomplishments thus far. I think you would agree that it is very impressive. His first six months have been even more active than FDRs or LBJs the two standards for such assessments. Yet, there is little media attention given to much of what he has done. Of late, the media is focusing almost exclusively on Obama's critics, without holding them responsible for the uncivil, unconstructive tone of their disagreements or without holding the previous administration responsible for getting us in such a deep hole. The misinformation and venom that now passes for political reporting and civic debate is beyond description.

As such, there is a need to set the record straight. What most impresses me is the fact that Obama has accomplished so much not from a heavy-handed or top-down approach but from a style that has institutionalized efforts to reach across the aisle, encourage vigorous debate, and utilize town halls and panels of experts in the policy-making process. Beyond the accomplishments, the process is good for democracy and our democratic processes have been battered and bruised in recent years.
Let me know if I missed anything in the list (surely I did).

LOL

There's a lot of BS in this.  This should be renamed the thread of lies.  WTF?

1,2 - Done by all presidents, it's nothing more than show.

4 - just a flat out lie.  We we're withdrawling before he even took office.

8 - another flat out lie.  Hell, they kept trying to delay the pictures of AF1 over NY

10 - flat out lie

I'm not even go bother with reading the rest of this crap.

#12. - Is this true??? That would be news to my ears, and I would think liberals would be talking about it more. I bet this guy believes that it was Bush who instituted the stop-loss policy. It is something that has been in place for a long while.

That one is bogus.  I posted a story about a crony who got a huge no-bid contract a few weeks ago.

You'll get no argument from me on this one.

Get a clue, Jaguar. Gitmo was supposed to be closed two weeks ago. Instead, it's being used as part of the humanitarian relief effort for the folks in Haiti.

Trust me, the military side was far happier, paycheck-wise, under Bush than under Obama.

Obama waited three months after his general begged and pleaded for more troops. Even then, Obama only gave McChrystal 75% of what he needed to win this "war of necessity".

No, it's about setting the record straight. Ain't Gitmo supposed to be CLOSED?

If half of what Jaguar listed were actually true, Obama's approval ratings wouldn't be in the 40s, and the Dems wouldn't have lost three straight elections, the last of which costs them their supermajority.

As do I. The point is El Big Mouth made the bold declaration that Gitmo would be closed NO LATER THAN ONE YEAR after he signed that order (Jan. 22 of last year).

I dont want him impeached, it will only make him more popular.

I want him to keep doing what he is doing since it will mark the end of crack-pot liberal idiocy for at least 20 years.

This is weak - he campaigned on it.  Nobody's calling for impeachment, just pointing out that Hope and Change was more of the same.

As do I. The point is El Big Mouth made the bold declaration that Gitmo would be closed NO LATER THAN ONE YEAR after he signed that order (Jan. 22 of last year).

So what does it matter that it's still open?  You're happy it is but yet you'd still like to find something to be unhappy about.  weird.  When bush was in power i found happiness when he changed his stances to things i agreed with.  i didn't fault him for it i agreed with him on it.  But hey bash away again and again whilst your party takes slush fund money and fires people at the same time, whilst your party slams the stimulus then asks for money to create jobs in their states, bash away whilst the most visible repub writes taxes, energy etc on her hand at a speech.
Abandon every hope...

MCWAY is simply pointing out one of Obama's broken promises.  He promised to close Gitmo, but he didn't close it.  Obama did not change his stance on the issue.  He simply made an empty promise that he could not possibly keep.  He either had no idea what he was getting himself into, or he simply lied.  Neither one is good.

So what does it matter?  I mean seriously.  He broke a promise that he wanted him to break anyway.  Shouldn't he be happy?  I know i would if i got what i wanted regardless of how it came about.

MCWAY already said that he is happy that Gitmo is still open.  Just because he points out Obama's broken promises and inconsistencies does not mean that he is unhappy about Gitmo still being open.

The only reason he broke that promise was because he didnt reealize that his pie in the sky nonsense was campaign lies and nothing else until he actually had to deal with the issue.

The above list is laughable.

Hahahaha I love it. Instead of completely closing down the place 14 days ago, it is being used to provide much needed relief to a humanitarian catastrophe... but repUBES would rather the place be used to torture people indefinitely, than provide life sustanance to others? Is this the rePUBElican argument? OK, let's see which RETARD goes before the American public to make that case.

That's got to be a blood thirsty rePUBE's worst nightmare huh? Not only have they stopped the indefinite incarceration and torture there, ...they're actually using the facility to help those less fortunate!!!

Oh the absolute horror!  ::)
