Awesome performance by Douglas that night, esp considering his mum died a couple of weeks before the fight.

One of the few boxers who has had a successful career out of the ring with his development company in Ohio.

Tyson finally got into the ring with decent heavyweight who could work a solid jab and who wasn't intimidated.

At the time as a 42-1 favorite it was a massive upset but looking back at Tyson's mediocre career it really should not have been. Just an example of an over-hyped boxer being exposed.

biggest upset in the history of boxing!!! looking at the fight tyson dint move his body at all and the only thing that buster did was jab followed by right crosses , he repeated this over and over again.Tyson was too cocky and overconfident for this fight and even if he would have won that fight ,he would have lost it to holyfield who was due to fight him later.but tyson got into a good condition after douglas loss and still was hungry for the title.

It was an accident waiting to happen that Tyson would get beaten eventually - hadn't he recently lost Cus D'Amato and was going through loads of shit with Robin Givens at that time?

Yep, those two things are what beat Tyson that night......and Buster took full advantage.  HATED when this happened.

C'mon...Cus D'amato died FIVE years before this fight!!

What is with all these excuse makers when it comes to Mike Tyson all the time?  He was pretty good beating up cans from 1985 to 2000 but he never beat a prime great fighter which damn near every other heavyweight that can be considered an all-time great has accomplished.

After 2000 Mike Tyson could not even beat average fighters.

But is you track his career, his boxing skills spiraled downward from the time of Cus's death, not to mention he was the only positive influence in Tyson's life that he actually listened to.  Not an "excuse" just the facts.  and he fought everybody during that time period, so what was he supposed to do, invent a time traveling machine to get some legit opponents?  And I wouldn't even count the part of his career after jail, it's like saying because Ali looked like a washed-up turd in his last fights, or Holmes, that they always sucked.

Actually you're probably right - I appreciate Cus died five years before Tyson fought Douglas but he was still suffering five years on. I can't believe I forgot about Don King - the guy was a leech and bled Tyson dry. But yes, it was partly his own fault though - he sacked Kevin Rooney who had basically taken over well from Cus. It kinda went a bit pear-shaped from there although people forget that Tyson still came back after the Douglas fight and got some decent results up until he went to jail.

he fought razor ruddock twice..and beat him..ruddock gave his some good fights..and even tyson said ruddock hit the hardest out of all his fights...once jail came forget it...you just can't rub that rust off like that..don king ruined him..it's sad.

lots of writers make predictions...most of them are wrong..some are right..how does this prove a fix?

1. america's team? thought that was dallas
2. the feel good storyline
3. numerous humanitarian and player awards 4 yrs after katrina when they could have been passed out back in 2006 instead of 2 weeks leading to game little or nothing for the colts
4. we gave 30mil donation for dome to keep team there
5.  r jackson 1st saint.  nfl even let the media in the city get a jump on releasing the info.
6. we talked / made owner keep team in city when he was going to move them to tx.  benson looks like dog#shit but national felon league is hero

short list there

1. 2 pentaites in ot keep drive alive verse minny.  of course brett could have runned for 1st down and of course they could have thrown a penalty flag and pushed them back out of fg range.
2. indy makes it 24-24.  guaranteed they move them down field again.
3. peyton walks off field with no hand shakes, said it's them against the world in which he got his mvp and a 5 pt favorite.

look.  series A has history of fixes so why your precious nfl cant?  calls can be made in tight games.  it's been done in ncaa basketball.  jordan rules were in nba, threw off a def in the utah game for winning championship shot and refs looked the other way.  more money for nba having win 6 than utah bring a title to a s##thole.

best ratings for sports ever for this superbowl.  really think if nfl wasnt pushing the feel good america's story this thing would have had those type of ratings.  yeah...louisiana vs indy against the big market teams of the past playing.  btw i'm in louisiana right now....not from here but went to the parade and all.

great day for national felon league BS marketing.

not one convincing argument there..the league has been around 90 years and no one has EVER come forward to say a game was fixed.
