Feels Bad for for people being targeted

Well just had to post this.

Yesterday took my flight back from my vacation. Left San Diego and arrived at Dulles on my way to Providence. Arab or Egyptian decent gentleman on board. I will admit while waiting for family boarding, I noticed the clean cut gentleman (nothing out of the ordinary). It did make me wonder (would he be part of some plot). I feel bad for thinking that because he is probably a law abiding citizen and has been probably been the subject of ridicule or racism.

As my daughter and I get off the plane to catch our connecting flight in Dulles, 5 TSA and a few FBI agents waiting at the gate. Now mind you, twice I took my daughter to the bathroom and this gentleman minded his business and there was no problem. Anyhow, these men were waiting at the gate. My connecting flight was 2 gates away and I could see them, handcuff this guy as he got off the plane.

It just reminds me after 9/11 while living in E Rutherford, NJ. One dunkin donuts I always went to get my coffee was owned and operated by a UAE family. I still went there, even the day after 9/11 and within a few days after the attacks, he told me business dropped dramatically.

Its just a shame we as Americans use that stigma, hell I know I did when I first saw that guy as he was boarding. I was not raised to be like that but cant help it.

as far as I know, the fbi isn't usually on standby to throw the cuffs on cats who just happen to look arab.  there is probably more to the real story than you will ever know.

Who bombs planes ---> arabs etc.... so they need to be watched....makes sense to me...

so you have no problem with being handcuffed and taken away to be interrogated just based on the ethnicity of your parents?   you have no problem with missing your connecting flight, or having who ever is picking you up from the airport wait for hours and hours not knowing where you are?   all that's ok because you have nothing to hide.

Tim, how can you have lived in Los Angeles and not have developed a racial awareness of some sort?  It is not in the imagination of white supremacists that 38,000 white women get raped by black men every year where under 10 black women get raped by white men.  It is not in the imagination of white supremacists that 3,446 blacks were lynched before the civil rights movement whereas over 50,000 whites have been murdered by blacks in the time since.  Nor is it "racist" to state these facts.

By your logic, police should not profile men for violent crime.  After all, not all men are violent.

Nice post newmom.  I think the lesson here is that Arab Americans are great people.  As long as they are not terrorists (very few are) most are better people than the average white person!

Perhaps they are right. Racial profiling seems to work. Since the 1972 Lod Airport massacre, in which 26 people were murdered, there have been no successful attacks on Israeli air-traffic and almost all the attempts that did take place were carried out on foreign soil. (In the Entebbe hijacking, the terrorists boarded the plane with their weapons during a stopover in Athens.)
