He wasnt exactly lighting up the circuit as it was...his best placing was 4th in arguably the weakest line-up in NOC history...it spelled the end of his career because he just never delivered
Bad call this time Chick, Dorian came 2nd and it was a weak line-up? To be fair to you, when you get down the list, his condition made other guys look 10 weeks out, but the top three were awesome and you're talking about 4th.......

Everyone can make a mistake, err or get facts confused but it's Chicks arrogance and "I know it better" attitude that turns you off.

Dorian was great, as was Momo....then you have a 40 year old Danny and 45 year old Robbie, 12 years past their prime when they were duking it out in the 1978 NOC...Johnnie was good, but his record speaks for itself.

maybe so, but the reality is that no one who went over to the WBF ever recovered..even if they came back and competed in great shape. remember Aaron Baker at the 1994 olympia? he got screwed! almost as bad as shawn ray did!

None of them "recovered" because none of them were that good after the fact, or past their prime when they went over to the WBF... Aaron may have done better, I personally thought he should have won the Ironman, but placed well given the line-up...if they wanted to screw him over, they simply could have not let any of them back in, or placed them completely out of the money...not 2nd

but thats exactly what they did. at least at the big shows.
for example,
Aaron deserved to make the top 10 at the 94 Olympia.
not the 12th place he ended up getting.

Danny Padilla was in his best shape ever at the 1990 NOC. He was just as hard but much bigger and fuller than his previous best at the highly controversial 1981 Mr. O. At the 1990 NOC Danny presented one of the best overall packages ever seen on a pro stage. To state that Danny was 12 years past his prime is just wrong.

One of the best and most competitive NOC line-ups ever with the top 3 being in tremendous condition:
1990 Night of Champions - IFBB
1 Mohammed Benaziza 2 Dorian Yates 3 Danny Padilla 4 Johnnie Morant 5 Robby Robinson 6 Sonny Schmidt
To assume that Chick may have been runner-up in this show like he did in 2002 to Markus Ruhl is absurd.
That's quite a line up, but I guess this argument is partly about new-school versus iron-age. Padilla couldn;t stand next to Markus Ruhl the way he looked in 2002. Neither could Momo in all likelyhood, they're from different eras, by 2002 you couldn't be 170lb with great shape and hope to get a placing. Chick looked great at that show. I guess having Yates in that first line-up gives it a certain gravitas, but Robby Robinson was an old man even then, so it's not really objective to say one lineup is good and one is shit. Chick was still 20lb or so bigger than baby Dorian was at that show. Markus was about 50lb bigger and had a tight waist and proper back conditioning in those days!

Uh Chick how old were you at the NOC you came second at. Late 30's? And Padilla was 'past it' at 40? ummm..........

This isnt a "me vs Danny" debate, or even a debate of tougher line-ups...its a discussion of Johnnie Morant. Your point of comparing me at 36 and Danny at 41 is irrelevant, as I didnt turn pro until much later in life than Danny did....his best days (IMO) were 10 years before that, I think pictures will prove that accurate....

I also thought Danny looked awesome at the 1990 NOC. Even in his own words she said it's the best shape, condition and size he ever presented on stage. Robby was also no chump change that competition. Robby at 45, was like your average 30 year old pro bobybuilder.
