To all those who say it is too long and boring are clearly YOUNG and have NO attention span. Kubrick, Lynch and Croenenberg ALL incredible directors.

They overestimated progress of man pretty severely.

By now society is to unstable for humans to do anything in space at all pretty much. With the recent cancellation of NASA moon program and maned space flights.

I feel it's an over-rated film. Yes it does have some amazing bits though, yes it has some yawn-inducing bits. But it is an important piece of cinema.

I always wonder what it would've been like to see that end section having dropped some acid!

It is. And, it isn't. I would've cut a good 20 mins. But, then again, I'm not a OCD genius, like Kubrick.
