Im sparring with a pro also,I cant get near him,and his punches knock the fuck out of me

I have a few ?'s and things you should consider to actually be more advanced than the other guy on Friday.

Is he (the pro) actually teaching you anything or is he just teeing off on you?

Does he let you "lead" some times..etc. and is there an actual boxing coach around to critique?

If he isn't letting you lead...tell him to let you lead for a few rounds and he just defend...then tell him to counter to your head a few rounds..then your body...then go full....and vice versa (he'll open up more about what you are doing wrong and what you can try..etc)..this is how you learn boxing...not going in and getting broken in to be a punching bag.

From my experience with so called "pros" ....they like to lead in sparring most of the time and/or lay back and land wicked counters to show they are in charge. Most don't know how to "turn it off" either.

It may not sound like much, but the guy on the other end never learns how to lead or take control, get his shots off, find his range..etc,etc b/c he's constantly worried about the incoming and return fire thus you'll "shell up" on defense when you should be deploying counters, slipping..tons of stuff.

You will be fine if you turn it into a learning session (even though you are not planning to do this long term) and not allow it to be a one sided beat down.

We have firemen and cops who come in and try to spar every so often just for their charity events and they all do the same thing...want to put on the gloves and spar....99% of them don't even know how to defend or throw a basic jab.  ;D

Thanks man for the advice
Yeah hes kinda just knocking the fuck out of me for a round then letting me do what I can for a round while he defends and counters
Ive only had a weeks prep for the fight as I agreed to it in December,my opponent pulled out in January so I didnt train for it,then last Wednesday I was asked if id fight it
Should be somewhat fun and il def put on a show, even if its just my ring entrance  :)

Ok, that's good he's letting you lead. That is really important when you are going up against a waaay more advanced fighter until you finally learn to hold your own, take control, relax, breathe with mouthpiece in..that all comes with time though.

As you are probably learning, it's not as simple as it looks on television. You have my respect for getting in there.

If I could add in another suggestion, ask the pro fighter to "run the mitts" with you for 3 minute rds, for like 3 or 4 straight rounds...let him call out the combinations...you rip them off full speed as hard as you can while he tells you what you are doing wrong (yes you'll be very tired) but this gets me razor sharp for sparring and plus there is no way i'll throw that many punches sparring so my energy is waaay up.

Do this and even if you mess up during that match, you'll have so much gas in the tank you'll push through and probably just overwhelm and win simply off conditioning, sheer will and attrition.

I'm suggesting that most of Okamis "victims" have been too drunk to defend themselves against someone like Okami in a fit of roidrage.
