Well, because of the crappy salary, and dealing with crappy kids, you don't get the best, the brightest to want to be teachers. Many women today would rather be attorneys or doctors or business women. They make more money and don't have to deal with juvenile fuck ups that their parents blame everybody but themselves for.
In order to really be a good teacher today, you shouldn't care to much about the kids, but about providing kids structure, which is not provided fo them at home. Women teachers today want to act like kids or reinact their teenage or 20's, like a "do over".
