Huge quake hits Chile; tsunami threatens Pacific
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/lt_chile_earthquake

WOW!... Like I said america is next. These earthquakes have been swarming the Atlantic, Pacific, Central America, South America and following the pattern North America is next. All of you Californians, Missourians and East Coasters better take note...You all sit on massive fault lines that can shift violently at any time. Let us not forget the Wyomingans..Yellowstone could blow its top as well.

I'd love to hear the reasoning for causing an earthquake in Chile.  ::)

Chile has a market-oriented economy characterized by a high level of foreign trade. During the early 1990s, Chile's reputation as a role model for economic reform was strengthened when the democratic government of Patricio AYLWIN - which took over from the military in 1990 - deepened the economic reform initiated by the military government. Growth in real GDP averaged 8% during 1991-97, but fell to half that level in 1998 because of tight monetary policies implemented to keep the current account deficit in check and because of lower export earnings - the latter a product of the global financial crisis. A severe drought exacerbated the recession in 1999, reducing crop yields and causing hydroelectric shortfalls and electricity rationing, and Chile experienced negative economic growth for the first time in more than 15 years. Despite the effects of the recession, Chile maintained its reputation for strong financial institutions and sound policy that have given it the strongest sovereign bond rating in South America. By the end of 1999, exports and economic activity had begun to recover, and growth rebounded to 4.2% in 2000. Growth fell back to 3.1% in 2001 and 2.1% in 2002, largely due to lackluster global growth and the devaluation of the Argentine peso, but recovered to 3.2% in 2003. Unemployment, although declining over the past year, remains stubbornly high, putting pressure on President LAGOS to improve living standards. One bright spot was the signing of a free trade agreement with the US, which took effect on 1 January 2004. In 2004, GDP growth is set to accelerate to more than 4% as copper prices rise, export earnings grow, and foreign direct investment picks up.

And your point? If anything, the FTA is a reason NOT TO cause an earthquake there.

Do oil next. Maybe it's worth causing a quake for the 150 million barrels in reserves they're estimated to have.  ::)

eh, i just googled chile natural resources.

i think haiti is fishy due to their oil, proximity to our enemies, and above all, the fact our 'rescue' teams were on the runway waiting for the earthquake lmao...

nothing smells with this one.  quakes happen.  i suppose a CTer could see who swipes in to *help* them (and help them out of those valuable copper reserves).

Hey 240 let us know if you spot any pancaked buildings in Chile similar to WTC #7. I've see a quite a few buildings engulfed in fire but none collasped on their footprint.

Strange....

So if the coming economic apocalypse doesn't get the US, a future mega quake definitely will?   :o

If I didn't know any better I'd guess you had some kind of personal vendetta against the United States...  :o

You hit that right on the head....notice the "enemy" wants to offer aid/assistance to Chile. Chileans better have lots of armed guards in front of their copper mines.

In addressing Haiti you must not have heard of the extensive Gold, Silver and Copper found there http://www.eurasianminerals.com/new/Haiti.asp that extends from Haiti all the way to and through the Dominican Republic. Add to this there is now discovered a vast oil reserve just off Haitis coast...was that the reason for americas trying to commandeer the whole Haiti rescue operation and sending the military and carrier ships there first...???

Let us not even get into the HAARP, or the fact that a "DRILL" was in operation in Florida the day before the quake hit

I won't say it is definitely HAARP, but people talked about the sky changing colors before the earthquake
