Bulking & getting sick
« on: March 01, 2010, 07:46:21 PM »
When I was a 215 pound fatass, I never got sick.
now that I'm a 170's twink with abs, I get sick every 6 weeks.

Are weight and immune system/illness related?

Immune system will weaken if you get too skinny. A part of it has to do with hydration.

A lot of it has to do with diet.

Are you one of "Those" people who get cold that live down here too?  8)

Do you think 40 degrees is cold?

yeah I live in FL... but I come from Ohio originally... 40 degrees sucks, but it's not that bad.  i'm wearing shorts in the 50s still.

yeah, wife is a teacher and probably brings home flu/colds a lot.

I was looking at old pics, I miss being bigger.  I don't wanna go overboard, but being 170s is getting old.  I'm healthy and lean and all that, but i want to go back up again.  it's been 5 years since I bulked up (pigged out 24/7, lifted heavy 5 days week, slept a lot).  215 here.  I'd probably stop at 200 this time.

215 is still light for me, i'm just under 250 and still feel small.

It's funny seeing internet dudes play the numbers game.

95% of guys who weigh 250 look like shit, like a fat powerlifter. Why would you want to be like that? I'd rather be a ripped 160-180.
Sorry pal some of us actually w/o consistently. 34" waist=not fat@ 5'11"

Dude, I wasn't born yesterday. I've heard that line a million times. Everyone on the internet has "low body fat" and a "slim waist" and 90% of the time it's bullshit.

 Post up a pic.
I have nothing to prove to you the compliments I receive in IRL are good enough.

I know if i have my carbs low i seem to catch everything that comes around...but i did find if i put some glutamine in my protein shakes that i didn't seem to get sick as much...could be a placebo affect to though

Nope....you've got a kid now. Kids are the worst thing for your health.

Really low BF ( sub-10 %) tends to negatively impact the immune systems. That's why athletes on form are so disease-prone.
Stress is also bad, certainly longterm stress, are you more stressed due to the kid? The life of a man working at home, no more partying?
There's a strong correlation between psychological wellbeing and resilience to disease.

No.  Germs don`t care what weight you are and do not discriminate based on weight either.  You must simply be around sick people.

Maybe you are cutting too hard and too extreme. When your body doesn't get enough nutrition it can get sick often. Not eating enough, or eating an imabalanced diet can fuck you up. Being skinny won't do that though.

Gotta make sure you eat the fruits and veggies and grains even though your cutting. Some guys take the dieting to very unhealthy extremes.
I doubt he is suffering from any vitamin or mineral deficiency of any kind so your theory is out.

I'm making 3 statements, show me the evidence that disproves any of them.
