Soccer is the No.1 sport in the entire world. it is the number one sport of virtually every country. the World Cup is the biggest sporting even on earth, bigger than the olympics, the Superbowl is a pathetic joke compared to it.
the World Cup final is the most watched event by far, in the entire world. something like over a billion people around the entire earth watch it one way or another.
soccer is a universal game that can be played with only a ball, anywhere. you dont need huge field goal posts, extensive padding gear and helmets, basketball hoops and a smooth flat surface, intricate man-made setups like lots of the winter olympic 'sports'...
and ANYONE can play it well by developing skill-regardless of bodytype. you dont need to be a genetic freak to be 'good'. you cant play football unless you are a huge,tank-like individual who is also quick and fast
you dont need to be a 6 foot 10 negro like basketball to excel at it.
soccer requires more endurance than any major sport, and the players have to be more overall skilled at every facet of the game-only basketball and hockey can compare in this regard..certainly american Football does not compare. also there is no stoppage in play. NO COMMERCIALS UNTIL HALFTIME. unlike football where the actial action is about 3 seconds after which they stand around on the field looking important as the game clock ticks off for about 30 seconds between plays
and there are about 50 commercial breaks each quarter
