Milk post workout?

Found this: http://stronglifts.com/milk-post-workout-build-muscle-gains/

Anybody tried this (instead of whey supplements)?

Wasn't milk also recommended in the book "Super Squats"?

Didn't read the article but I often reach for milk when I am too tired, lazy or crunched for time to make a shake or eat something.

I think it's nonsense personally - you need a fast acting protein like whey immediately after exercise.

Besides, as humans we really aren't supposed to drink milk - we are the only mammals on earth who drink the milk of another animal.

maybe only beings who drink milk of another animal. but do any other animals have that option?  ;D

interestingly, Cow milk is very similar to human milk. of concernt o bodybuilders, the three main macro nutrients =

Human milk(100g):

1g protein
6.9g carbs
4.4g fat

Cow milk(100g):

3.3g protein
4.7g carbs
3.3g fat

with cow milk there is less fats and carbs, but more proteins. although the protein in cow milk has a hgiher percentage of casien, and a lower percentage of whey than human milk. although both are comprised of those two proteins.

Human mother’s milk is regarded as the most anabolic nutrient in nature.
Moo-cow milk is a close second, although the amino profile is slightly different.
Several companies claim to have duplicated (or at least, damn near) the formula. I don’t know how accurate their claims are.

If nothing else, cow milk contains lysine & anterior pituitary hormones the cows secrete when lactating.
Great gains have been made over the years by guys following the milk/egg diet – including milk/egg protein supplements.

If there's a sale on evaporated milk (say $0.75 or less), I get a can or two and drink it. However, it's usually NOT for post-workout but for bedtime.

Two cans of fat-freevaporated milk gives about 600 calories and 48 grams of protein.

The price thing isn't really an issue, because I can get protein supplements cheap, courtesy of GNC's clearance sales. Yesterday, I picked up a 12-pack of Muscle Milk (Cookies-N-Cream) for $5........actually $4 with my Gold Card  ;D .

Not really. I rarely use Muscle Milk. It's just that, as of late, I've been able to get Muscle Milk products, dirt cheap. I also have a small tub of CytoSlim that I got for $3 and change.

I tried convincing my cousin to do it - explaining the "explosive" demand in the nutrition marketplace.
She didn't share my enthusiasm.

Its funny because Human milk has one of the lowest protein content of all mamals.  I want to say the highest percent protein was rat milk.  Hence the reason the critters grow so fast.

When i didn't have money for supps, i used to drink 1 liter of milk post workout. I also had 1 liter with breakfast.
Since milk is cheap, has protein, carbs and calories it made me grow really well. Following this 'diet' i got up to my heaviest weight ever (117,4kg).

Today,i don't dirjnk as much milk as i used to, but still think its a great way to build muscle for its convienence and price.
I'd say go ahead.

Peace

My friend made some of the best size gains he's made in his life in the last few years consuming raw milk before and after his workouts.  Amazing stuff.

Your best bet is to find a local coop with other's.  If you hunt around the local classifieds or even your local sup shops you can get lucky.  My friend is actually in one through Ron Kosloff's supplement shop.  You may even be able to find links at the Weston A Price site.

How does the price of raw compare with regular grocery store brands?

Most coops charge about the same as the supermarket does for the organic milk but it seems like you get more,  it's been over a year since I bought some for myself.  You guys have my wheels turning now though.
