Imagine some idiot buying a pet lion, and keeping it in a small cage in the basement.  After depriving it of food for a day, it climbs into the cage, and dangles food in front of it, ordering it to do tricks for the food it needs to live.

We wouldn't be all that shocked when said lion owner's bones are found.

The kill switch has been thrown in this animal now.  Maybe the first one was "play".  Maybe the second time it was play or whatever when the guy snuck into the tank after hours.  But this time, the animal has has associated humans with being prey.  Not as food, which is why he hasn't tried to eat them (yet).  But just as something to kill.

People love dogs and don't mind the barking or cleaning after them if it's untrained. Dogs can be trained to do their business in a certain area outside the home. So it is not much of a task to clean up after them.

Dogs are useful when it comes to protection and aiding those people with disabilities like blindness or partial paralysis.
