Present day China reminds me of the old Soviet Union when they were at their peak. Similar with the massive armed forces, military hardware and ICBM supply. As with China today, Russia did not have the internal structure to be any where near a world power, military or other wise. Mostly rural, with great distances to cover. To get the food supply and other raw materials for a proper war machine a county needs quality roads and a well running and designed railroad system. China has neither. China also has to import crude oil, a very important factor for them.
Peoples on the farms and rural (where most of the population lives) area have the other disadvantage of being under educated, with many not being able to read or write, a flaw that was hidden by Russia, and now China, very well. With their massive land mass, with extremes in weather, take a toll on food production. There are almost yearly food riots in many villages. People come to the bigger cities for jobs and a better supply of the basic foods. Air quality there barely passable.
Only advantage China has now is the blockage of the power grid and communication centers (military/gov/civil) of the USA, for example. And not a shot needs to be fired. Clinton's adminstration had done more harm to the U.S.by selling secret and hi tech guidance systems for space/rocket defense. Plus our offense weapon systems are now well known to China.. China is making outstanding advancement in hacking and controlling potential U.S defense with super computer offense attacks. This would also mean control of public water & power supply's, communication, internet, food stocks, highway & rail systems and all types of critical delivery's. New type of war altogether.
