Dan "Outlaw" Hardy
« on: March 11, 2010, 06:32:46 AM »
I cannot understand why this kid is getting a shot at the title already.  He beat who?  Marcus Davis?  I thought Davis actually won that fight and got screwed by the judges.  Let Hardy fight Koschek, let him fight "Rumble" Johnson, let him fight Jon Fitch, he would lose to any one of those three for sure, in my opinion.  I don't even know if he'd beat Matt Hughes to be honest.

Tired of the UFC pushing these obnoxious brits (Bisping) through easy fights and then giving them title shots.  Of course he has a punchers chance, Matt Sera proved that.  But I feel like he is so outclassed by GSP its not even funny.  Why didn't he have to fight any of the tough Welterweights?  Kos, Rumble or Fitch would beat Hardy, guaranteed.  UFC just trying to promote British fighters to expand their audience, but I think its bullshit.  Let him fucking earn it!

He got a title shot because the UFC is trying to draw in the british audience!  He doesn't deserve a title shot.

I think he can thank Michael the Fraud Bisping for putting Brits on the map. While there isn't much comp for GSP at welterweight, I don't think Hardy is the best or most interesting match up.

IMO he is going to get punked by first round TKO or submission unless GSP shows ill effects from his injury.

When he loses, I'd actually like to see him fight Thiago Alves or Chris Lytle.  I think if they are trying to make a British striker a poster boy, when he loses they should jump over to Hardy's teammate Paul Daley.

Let me help you 'understand' this situation a little better. First of all I agree 100% that Hardy is going to get is ass handed to him in this fight. Just like most WW's in MMA.

GSP has already demolished Kos and Fitch. They have already had a shot...why have a repeat fight with most likely the same results?
Kos just beat Rumble, Why would Rumble get a shot?

Pretty much anyone GSP faces in the WW division is going to get destroyed. Hardy is really the only guy that even has a remote chance at beating GSP that HAS NOT already had a shot at GSP. GSP has been out a while as well and needs to fight. He can't sit around and wait for the current Kos, Fitch, and Alves dilemma to be sorted out.

If Hardy loses, then we can throw Kos, Fitch, and Alves back in the mix. I am really excited to see who wins the Fitch/Alves fight. That one is hard to call.

Hardy is not the toughest fight GSP has ever faced...but given the current situation he is deserving of a shot.

You mean Anthony "I can't make weight, because I balloon up to 230 between fights" Johnson?

Even if told BJ he couldn't take Melvin down he would still outbox Melvin.  It would be funny to see how frustrated Melvin would get.  BJ has the best boxing in MMA pretty much.  Great jab, good combinations, good power, and he's very patient.

Melvin gets frustrated as soon as he step in the octagon.

I've never seen a guy "lose it" so much and damn near 150% of the time...it costs him every single time. lol.

and Dana loves him.

LOL, he needs to lose at least two more times in a row to big names in order to even be considered for a title shot according to Dana.

Exaclty. There really is nobody else that is in the league of GSP right now.

I kind of feel bad for hardy.

I do wish Nick Diaz was in the UFC. A GSP/Diaz fight would interesting.

I like DIaz and he is no-doubt a great, gritty fighter, but GSP would completely school him.

I'd like to see Koz fight GSP again.  I think Koz has greatly improved since his last fight with him...

I think that Kos/Fitch/Alves and possibly Daley all have a good shot, but have to wait until all these guys fight before giving one of them a title fight.
Except for Daley, all of these guys have had a shot at GSP.

Bottom line, Hardly anyone stands a chance at GSP at WW.

Diaz is susceptible to strong wrestlers.  He would have ZERO chance against GSP.  The trash talk leading up to the fight would be great though.  If I were GSP I would continue at 170 until I broke the record for most consecutive wins and then make the move to 185.

oh don't get me wrong I don't think he would beat GSP just give him a better fight...defiantly better fight than hardy...

I agree with Coltrane...Kos might have the best chance he is far better than the first time they fought...Also He has more victories in UFC history without getting a title shot so he deserves one the most...

Kos is somewhat deserving, but he also lost to Alves. This makes a fight with GSP currently less appealing.

The biggest threat to GSP is someone who has high caliber striking and serious takedown defense.  The closest thing to that at 170 is Thiago and Rumble.  GSP already pwned Thiago (in spite of having a torn groin muscle) and Rumble won't have a chance to get through the layer of contenders to get to GSP.  Fitch & Kos are both similar: strong wrestling with okay striking and average jits.  Neither stands a chance with GSP and both would make for boring fights.  I have no interest in seeing either get a rematch.

Tyrone "T-wood" Woodley in a years time would be ready for some top 10 guys, he's a Div 1 all american wrestler with sick kickboxing, and has a majority of his wins by submission.  He's Thiago Alves teammate at ATT and has no where to go but up.
