Hello everyone,
Friend of mine’s child has a disease called Smith-Lemli-Opitz disease which means that his body isn't able to produce enough cholesterol. Therefore, he’s required to take supplements for the cholesterol deficiency. His current supplement is produced by a lab and paid for by the NIH. However, it is being discontinued which means he needs to find another. Without a supplement, he would have to eat 15-18 pasteurized raw egg yolks—which are not exactly easy to come by— per day to get a sufficient level. The reason being for the raw, rather than cooked, is because they can mix them into shakes etc and it’s believed to absorbed better than when cooked. Keep in mind that the boy is 5 years old, so getting him to eat that man eggs a day would be a chore.
So, with that background information being laid out, does anyone know of, or even ever heard of, a cholesterol supplement?
Any information or advice is greatly appreciated.
