So I was talking to a friend of mine, and he told me this story about a very obese man who was very depressed about his weight, so one day he decided he would just take off running and it would either kill him or he would lose weight. He ended up not dying and lost a lot of weight and got healthy. Anyone else hear of this story? Any links? I would like to read the whole story.

I heard a similar story, but the guy dropped dead of a heart attack after 30 yards.

I read about a story where a really fat man or lady, can't remember which drove around the world with a tricycle. When he was in Africa pedalling away he disappeared, and it was rumoured he got eaten by cannibals. Bullshit story but it was funny nonetheless.

Might not be bullshit after all, cannibalism is still practiced in parts of africa, specifically in the north and central parts, and mostly in and around the congo and liberia.

In college I did a report on a fat guy that tried to kill himself by running around 1980. He was depressed and the doctor told him that his obesity was going to lead to heart attack. He went for a run to kill himself but it didn't work. The next day he was determined to do a better job. Every day he thought he wasn't determined enough. Soon his depression started to lift. He started to lose weight. I wish I could remember specifics.
