yes,, specially his later training recommendations are crazy,, so infrequent traiing is very poor for growth,, the reason for this is :: protein synthesis is only elevated approx 24-48 hour after training session,, so if you wait too long it isnt good for growth,, this dont meen you necessarily have to train body part every every second day,, as other mechanism have to recover but waiting a week or longer is NOT smart if you wanna grow yourself,, reason you can get stronger with extreme HIT and not grow is mostly NEURAL ADAPTATIONS

Great guy knew him well.He had an angry attitude and it served him well.

John Little? Love your work. I use to read your articles every month when I worked in a nutrition store that carried Iron Man. I wasn't embarrassed reading those kinds of mags in vitamin stores. It's been a while since I've read any of your stuff because I don't work there anymore. I guess I could thumb through Iron Man at Border's but I'd rather be caught reading Granny Porn. I just don't want people think I'm strange.

anyone know what his methods were for diet and pharmacology, guy was very scientific, would be interesting to know his views on both, his training methods are widely known and well thought out, never heard much about his other preparations, except for the usual rumours, both him and Casey Viator had that real thick type dense muscle, maybe Keith onlyme can shed some light on it.

Na Dorian said it whilst Mike was still alive , he pointed out that the way he trained was along the same lines as Mikes HIT or should I say Arthur's HIT methods but he had modifyed it to suit his needs better.

Mike and Dorian clearly had a mutual respect for each other from what I've read and heard from the pair of them. Dorian agreed on everything other than exercise choice, by that he believed that bodyparts like back need to be hit from a number of angles for full development, wheras Mike argued that it required far less variety, but where I read this I remember them both leaving the discussion with a positive agree to disagree kind of attitude.

Mike's ideas weren't what I'd call crazy, I'd say they are optimum IMO.

I don't know, I'm not a big fan of HIT or any other type of low volume training. Some of them (including Mike) are/were a little dogmatic.

He also advocated very little protein and calories for growth, kind of like what this "Hugeripped" guy is posting now, I don't go that way either.

Cool pic - perfect combination of mass and symmetry right there.

On a side note, how tall was Mentzer?

Mike was 5'8" and Ray was 5'9".

what you write  has nothing to do with the fact that he was cuckoo,, you must seperate different issues,,

Dude, just because you started the thread, doesn't mean you have to dominate it and reply to EVERYONE's comment. You created the thread, NOT MIKE MENTZER  ::)
