Why don't you play that Cacophony solo, starting at 2:48 that I posted ;)

Check this one out... I spent so many hours learning this song... must have been 1995 I think.  Love the Key of E, 9th and 11th frets intro

You should put up a video man. I'd love to hear you play. I've been toying with the idea of putting up Serranna ( I haven't learned the diminished run close to the end yet, but use the tune as a sweeping exercise ) and a couple Tony MacAlpine vids before working on my own stuff again.

Becker and Friedman are probably my favorite guitar duo, and I'm a huge fan of their playing, both together, and separately. Marty Bagman's Scenes is an absolutely awesome cd without tons of shredding. Though I do prefer Jason's soloing over Marty's, I like Marty's songwriting more.

Yeah, it's me...

My Friedman stuff is on my channel, but I only spent a few minutes learning it. I think I did "Lucretia" and "Tornado of Souls"... I ain't proud of it, so I ain't postin' it. I'm cool with the Dire Straits Sultans solo though. I only practiced finger picking for that solo and I'm sure I can't do it worth a crap anymore. You gotta stay up on it if you want to be fluent.

I was actually trying to show that a $99.00 Strat could still sound worth a shit...

I've been working more on speed and picking technique than anything lately.  Been listening to a lot of tech death metal stuff again.

Can you really even call that "music" ?

I know it's done on a musical instrument, and there are notes and scales and shit....but it's more like a display of manual dexterity.

This is why I never like shredding. It's all skill and no feeling: glorified typing.

Now, here's a skilled musician playing great music. Jimmy Page ripped this off and put it on Led Zep I as Black Mountainside.

I like shredding, when it's done with style and musicality (is that a word?) Ty Tabor of king's X can shred like a mofo...but it sounds cool and is interesting to listen to....it's not just "look at how technical i am ".

You listen to his solos and you know it's him...he has a distinct voice. these guys all sound the same "widdlywiddlywiddlywiddly widdlywiddlywiddlywiddly waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh"..12 times in a row.

I am sure if you are a musician you see it in a whole different light because it is so hard to do...and i do respect the talent...just not my bag
