If you look at super heavyweight type of guys, i.e. your strongmen, powerlifters, olympic weightlifters, and bodybuilders approaching 300 lbs, they almost all have thick waists and some even blatant pot belly shaped abdomens. If you train in the manner to handle extremely heavy poundages, the mass required to move this weight and to support this weight just can't be aesthetically narrow or waspish. It just seems to appear that you can't escape such biological or physical requirements, where if you want such extreme mass you're going to have to have it everywhere for it to happen.
