Star Trek was great. One of the most underrated movies from last year.
They effed up and used the classic 80s storyline where the nerd (Spock) gets the girl, who ends up having a relationship later on with Kirk...that fast pants Ho!

Have you taken in a Broadway show or been to the opera lately?  That’s an expensive outing.  I saw Tosca last summer at the local opera house; the ticket’s were $92.50 each and the seats (Grand Tier/Orchestra) were shitty!  The box seats I wanted were $500!  Saw Verdi’s Otello a few months later… same thing.

And this does not include dinner or drinks! >:(

The cinema is cheap!

Apples and oranges ~ they're both fruits, but different  ;)

I belong to both Blockbuster online, and Netflix, and I am a big fan of both. I also enjoy going to see movies in movie theaters, but I am spoiled and I usually go to indie cinemas, in the Hollywood/Los Angeles area.

Redbox and its pitiful selection sucks. Blockbuster stores also tend to have a shoddy selection, but I like being able to just exchange my mail rentals for films.

Hollywood video is still the best brick and mortar store for rentals, they always have a great selection, of odd horror, sci-fi, foreign, etc, films.

plus at least in Maryland and Virginia they r at every damn 7-11 and grocery store (name it...giant,safeway,harris teeter etc)...

so when u r buying a soda or groceries...more often than not...ya end up picking up a movie...even the crappy ones...and if u end up not watching....hey...its just a buck  :-\

Couldnt agree more.  I have literally sat in a movie and said "I wonder what rip off of another movie this will be".  I was buying my movie tickets at Costco to defray the cost of the ticket ($7.50/ticket down from $9.50).....now, I go to the first matinee show of the day on Sundays and pay $5.00/ticket.  I bring a powerade zero (.79 cents) and a large bag of M&M's ($3.29).  So, I come away spending only $14.10.  Plus there is usually only 5 - 10 other people in the theater.  Even 3-D movies.  Its great.  I still do torrents because some are not even worth the $5.00/ticket.

You sound like me. I couldn't agree more. Problem  is, people keep supporting shitty movies, thus shitty movies keep being made. I heard that that Alvin & Chipmunks made something like 400 mil. That's fucking unreal. Shows how dumb people are....to fork over $10 a head for a shitty movie.

;D

Remember, not every movie is made for every moviegoer.  I'd set myself alight before sitting through Alvin and the Chipmunks but If you have a little one and she wants to see it, you have to take her... and buy her the toys too.  ::)

If it's just cute, wait for the DVD....

Let's just take a look at at recent blockbuster: Avatar. How many times have we seen this movie before? Off the top of my head; The Last Samurai, Dances w/Wolves, Pocahontas. Apparently those weren't cool enough, cause they didn't feature BLUE FUCKING PEOPLE!  ::)

videos stores have been dying for years it isn't just rental stores, none of my local malls sell movies anymore, no suncoast or fye

comcast on demand, no need to go rent or buy a movie when you can get it with your remote
bittorrent's

blockbuster was in trouble when dvd's came out, they were immediately sold in stores, unlike vhs where you had to wait 6 months or before you could actually buy the movie you were forced to rent

If Blockbuster would grow a pair of balls and rent porno they would probably make money again.

Are you talking about Cricket? I don't watch or follow any sports, dude. Only men in thongs for me ;D

We do have something similar to Netflix - you can compile a list of DVDs you want to watch in some websites and they mail out 3 or 5 of them to you at a time, depending on the package you pay for. There are no late fees and you can take as long as you want to return them (using prepaid envelopes). I think there are 3 or 4 of those here.

I have two friends who have been so neutered by their wives that they can't look at internet porn,  they have been brow beaten but they both have hiding spots for their dvds.  I have a feeling there are lots of dudes out there like this.

We'll send a Redbox to NZ's house setup it up outside you can make the profits off it with all the hoes he has over then you get free movie pays for itself.

Suncoast used to and look where they are now. Even though you still order from Suncoast online.

I seriously don't know whats wrong with you people. Redbox blows..... I suppose if you ONLY want to watch new releases or similar drivel, then it is good, but for anyone who actually appreciates film, and having a decent selection, is shit out of luck.

Both Netflix, and Blockbuster online are probably the only way to go in terms of having access to just about any film that has ever been released on DvD. There is really no better way to get access to a lot of these films, short of buying them outright.

Then again I probably like cinema more then most of my fellow getbiggers, so I am in the minority.

pretty soon...as with netflix ..everyone will be able to watch a vast collection of movies online...for a monthly fee and CD players will be a thing of the past
